Yep. Silas is already having problems with a simple zone defense. I am not anti kpj. I just think he is not our pg, and the combination with Silas is terrible. I am interested in seeing what kpj can do with a real coach.
That highlight video is damn near unwatchable with the sound on. Hollins is just grating with repeated "Not a penny, not a nickel, that's a dime baby!" calls. He's too manic in his energy to begin with but at least he come up with some new calls.
I absolutely hate the guy in our broadcast booth. Heck, it almost makes me miss Clyde. At least Clyde was innocuous. Hollins is irritating beyond belief.
Silas chooses which player shoots during each possession? Incredible coach - few coaches have shown that level of dominance and mastery over their players in sports history. "Nobody can convince me otherwise" = Dunning-Kruger poster-child
My new estimate has Sengun as an all-star next year as long as we lean into that. We need to construct an offense around Sengun. Sengun is an offense. Green plays off of him well in the 2 man game. KMJ, Eason, Tate and Smith all good cutters. Eason, Smith, Green and KMJ can all turn into average to good 3pt shooter over 2-3 years. Eason and Smith are 2/3 of the players that need to surround Green and Sengun to create a passable defense and defensive rebounding situation. Wemby is ideal beyond belief. Henderson fits pretty well also. Sengun Smith KMJ Eason Green should start if KPJ doesnt return this year. Big lineup that probably will lack on ball handling and spacing for the remainder of 2022-2023 but we get to really push the ball handling roll on green and see if he can take a step up. If Jalen isn’t a good bit more efficient by the end of 23-24 we may need to change course, but it is high time to force feed the primary ball handler roll on him and see what we have. Because other than scoot Henderson that may end up our best outcome.
Rockets hired the guy who was the absolute worst major national TV NBA analyst and turned him into the absolute worst TV NBA commentator. I use LP and choose the non-Rockets broadcast every chance I get. It's almost always significantly better.
And also his irrelevant memories. He was talking about his UCLA choice. Very related to Rockets-Thunder game.
Nah, Sengun fans are right. It appears Silas doesn't want an offense through a post player/big. There's no creativity. The only on ball screen we've seen for Sengun as the handler has been the KJ one. Our team entry passes suck, but adjustments don't seem to be made to help get the ball to him on the low block, and the off-ball movement is still not where it needs to be when he has the ball. Every game we see Sengun complain on at least one possession that no one is moving or cutting. This year, Silas' coaching, has made me become a fan of style vs team. Ill always be a Rockets fan, but the style/system we have had most of the year has been so bad, I'm seeking out players and teams that are better coached. Hopefully this is the last Silas year.
