He hasn't been away from the game the last two years. He just hasn't been good enough to get back to the Majors. He is a project piece like Charlie Morton.
So you have prejudged Buttrey as an entitled lazy ass who loved money and didn’t want to work hard? And all athletes who play because it is a job, not because they truly love it … all those dudes are also lazy asses and should be condemned? That’s a wonderful outlook on people and life. Its as if nobody has every burned out on something, taken a break from it, and returned to it productively.
That's my starting position until proven otherwise. I'm willing to be proven wrong, but the odds are the starting point is more likely to be true than not.
You have no ****ing idea why he took time off. Your assumptions show your idiocy. So you think Buttrey spent SEVEN years toiling in the minors working to reach the majors (where he made league minimum for the short time he was there), only to quit once he got there because…he is lazy and was only playing for the money?!?! You're the same kind of person who would curse a player for looking like they aren’t trying hard or not playing with passion, yet you’re gonna denigrate a guy who voluntarily takes leave of the game because he doesn’t feel like his passion for the game is there.
What a dangerous, shitty outlook on people and life you have. Not surprising at all. Can’t wait until you’re gone.
The Astros have also spoken to Mike Minor quite a bit, but he wants more money and preferably a chance to continue starting. Matt Moore wants too much money, but the Astros are interested....
Nook, have you heard anything regarding what Brown mentioned on 790 yesterday? About contract extension talks with Tucker and Framber?
Let's get someone who has the ability to start and come out of the pen. Matt Moore is my choice, he was excellent coming in relief last year and he'll serve as our left handed relief pitcher.
Minor or Moore would be excellent additions. Also not out of the realm of possibility that they end up starting for a stretch either.
The Astros have been trying to extend them for some time. If Brown gets the, extended when Click could not, that will be damning of Click.
Nook, from your perspective, what do you think it would take to extend: Framber Tucker Javier Bregman Altuve
I'm optimistic about Dubon this year. His OPS tanked 100 points after being traded to the Astros and was almost 200 points lower than 2 seasons ago. I think he will bounce back from the plate this season with a full offseason in our system. If he can get close to the the 700's we was before, he will be a great utility guy for us because he is well above average in the field at all positions he plays at.
