Agreed completely, firing the previous coaches had nothing to do with the color of their skin....even though some really dumb people were trying to make that argument, and hiring a legitimately qualified coaching candidate has nothing to do with that either. The problem with those specific types of dumb people is that they are essentially a hammer seeing everything in the world as a nail. I'm just happy the Texans made a correct decision for a change.
After the initial optimism of thinking Pep could be a good OC im done after watching him derail Mills with one of the most unimaginative offenses I've ever seen I dont want him anywhere near another young QB.
I'm right there with you, brother. I was kind of terrified at the idea that Demeco would get hired, all us Texans fans would rejoice that the front office finally made a good decision...and then Demeco chooses to keep Pep, immediately making me question his decision making skills as a head coach. Hopefully Pep is gone and they just managed to do it quietly.
Interesting that Stephen A Smith has nothing at all to say about the Houston Texans new hire after making such a strong statement before the hire. Nothing at all to say about it...
I am glad Ryan Clark has changed his tune...because that's not what he was saying 3 weeks ago when they fired Lovie. And I doubt that's what he would have said had they hired Gannon. But regardless good for him.
Well the Goat did just retire and that story is going to dominate everything. No one cares about the Texans.
Good to see some old faces… Thank you for finding this video. This is a great breakdown of Demeco’s defense. Attention to detail is very important and it doesn’t seem you need to be crazy athletic. Just understand and DO YOUR JOB. Something, dare I say, Belichick always preaches. Not to mention, never give up on a play and everyone run to the ball. Fred Warner was the exception in that video. He goes above what he’s supposed to do and that is what seems like what makes that defense better than good. I don’t see anyone in the draft like him. I like Noah Sewell a lot. Very patient LB. Never overplays and doesn’t miss tackles. I would’ve said Drew Sanders but he’s likely a first rounder. FA pickup would be Trumaine Edmunds. Jimmie Ward also stood out. I think we can find another Jimmie but he’s actually available. Why not get him so he can teach that to the next guy until he’s done. Pitre can play this role if Jimmie doesn’t come over. We’ll also need a tall, lean DE. I can see that in quite a few guys in the draft. Tyree Wilson, Lukas Van Ness, Isaiah Foskey and Will McDonald IV. They won’t be a Bosa but they’ll get to the QB. Lastly, DTs. I like Maliek Collins but he’ll need some help. Daron Payne is definitely someone to look at in FA. He’s a pro bowler so we’d have to cash out for him. Jalen Carter would be perfect.
That’s because no sane remotely intelligent human being could defend that race baiting narrative after the Ryan’s hire. It was always a low iq take meant to drive up a frenzy. Now it’s just laughable and indefensible.
He has not been fired yet and he's declined other interviews. Apparently he has a kid in the area he wants to be around. No way they bring him back as OC though.
Hiring deMeco has brought the franchise leeway with the fanbase. I don't think they must draft a QB now. DeMeco is enough signal of change / hope that typically only franchise QBs bring. I am predicting that we go after Will Anderson at #2.
Was it Pep or was it Mills, though? Mills couldn't throw slants toward the sideline to save his LIFE! On GOD! haha
