Because he has T Rex arms and he knows it.

Trump will come at him hard for it.

Not as bad as projecting your insecurities of never starting a family onto like 30 different posters on a NBA team fan message board with the same insult.

So in other words it's "virtue signalling".

Interesting point of view. Basically, different perspectives on what is virtuous, maybe that's where part of the disagreement stems from.

Of course there are different points of view on what is virtuous. In this example though it fits. You yourself admit it's a vague law that will be hard to enfoce but is just there to make signal to people who happen to share that view on virtue.

Virtue signaling is "the public expression of opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or social conscience or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue." Another definition: "an attempt to show other people that you are a good person, for example by expressing opinions that will be acceptable to them, especially on social media... indicating that one has virtue merely by expressing disgust or favor for certain political ideas or cultural happenings."

I don't think it applies here. Law was passed and there are real tangible (negative) impacts. I assume the possible similarity is that both "virtues signaling" by politicians and actions here by DeSantis can be viewed as simply trying to win votes. But one has actual consequences while the other doesn't.

You are blind to not see the leftish teachers are doing it to harm Desantis and not because they fear a felony charge.

Back to seriousness... It's not just that one district "erring on the side of caution" after going through the DeSantis re-education camp, it's any person in FL can request a book review for removal and many districts remove them until a decision is made (another "erring on the side of caution"). The law is horrible as is but the abuse and fear-based culture it enables are probably even worse. It takes just a few bad characters to request book reviews for removal to fk up the whole system. But this is more than just a few bad characters. There is a coordinated effort to remove books (you can take a good guess on what type of books).

Boy the GOP sure do love the uneducated and gullible.

can't help but laugh at the posters trying to spin that empty book shelves are a political stunt and not a reaction to potential FELONY charges.

And the left indoctrinating kids is a joke when compared to the neo-christian right dogma being pushed by the evangelicals.

Now he's going after programs in COLLEGE.

0 defense for this one. Can't hide behind "Liberal propaganda for kids" on this one. Just a pure fascist move to dictate what Universities can and can't teach. Let this man never get close to the oval office.

He is because he's a lot smarter than Trump and knows what he's doing.

Trump was just some desperate egomaniac that built a cult of personality around him.

DeSantis has a goal, he boils the frog here and he knows to start off small and work his way up. First he's banning things in elementary so people can hide behind "NOT THE CHILDREN!" argument and now he's ramped his way up to actually, no, not even grown adults can take classes on this stuff in my state.

He's a habitual line stepper and he's going to continue to do it until eventually people realize his end goal won't be pretty.

He is a more competent person in navigating bureaucracy to get what he wants but he also can be considered less dangerous as I don't think he has the charisma to gain a cult of personality as dangerous as Trump's cult.

There not going to be as many die hard DeSantis people as there were Trump.

The 2024 Republican primary and the White House. That’s the only goal.

Culture wars, war on education, boogeymen coming for your children … all the ignorant crap that the Republican base and trumps base loves. DeSantis wants all them votes. Look no further than your conservative brethren on CF. Seems like 99 percent of the posts are about culture war nonsense that has no bearing on actual life, like people leaving california, transgendering the kids, price of eggs (used to be gas), blah blah blah,

If it has no bearing on actual life, why does it get you so worked up?
