Don't over think it : Quin Snyder He's what these young guys need. someone who won't just sit there and watch them put forth a pathetic effort like Silas
Why would Lucas do that to himself. He got the best of all worlds, maybe just get a pay raise. Lucas doesn’t want to be fired and what not. He has his roots here and can stick around till HE doesn’t want to anymore. What does John Lucas have to prove to himself or anyone else?
Agree 100%. On interim basis at first, though. Will give the front office some games to see how successfully he can coach the team.
Nick Nurse contract ends this season and while it's unlikely he leaves Toronto.. if Tilman gave a damn about this team he should go out there offer him a bigger contract than what the Raptors will give.
I’ve had the same thought. Ideally Silas steps down at the All-Star break to spend time with the family, or for some other personal reasons, the organization makes it right for him to do so, and Lucas steps in on an interim basis until a real coaching search can happen for next season. Silas inherited an impossible mess. I hate the idea of him getting fired for it, despite every quantifiable measurement basically confirming that he should be.
Tilman could care less about this team and will definitely keep Silas through the completion of his contract.
You really think Tilman doesn't care about a team he paid $2.2 Billion for ??? No, he cares .... he just came in thinking he knew better than everyone else how to run a franchise and it blew up in his face. Now he's staying out of the way and letting the basketball people do their jobs.
The problem is neither Silas or Stone are basketball people, or rather COMPETENT basketball people. DD
That's your opinion .... but it's yet to be proven one way or another. They have been intentionally bad to acquire high draft picks and will have acquired at least 3 of those by seasons end. Mission accomplished. Let's see how they perform when the screws get turned up next year and losing isn't an option. This offseason is huge in grading this front office group as just about any acquisition of consequence will have to happen via trade because the FA market is barren of high quality players. Everyone likes to piss and complain about the moves (mostly non-moves) Stone has made, I don't think he's done nearly as bad as most others because the devil is in the details and most are overlooking those details - Like what has to come back in an EG trade .... if you have to take back salary that extends beyond the current season, that has to be a deal breaker because it eats into the most likely avenue of improvement. You need that cap space .... a pick in the mid 20's isn't worth losing that. The only thing I fault him for is offering Oladipo that big extension even knowing he would turn it down and head into free agency. If they aren't better than .500 next year or close to it .... I'll join the pitchfork brigade but until then, I think any grade is incomplete.
Who exactly are his “basketball people”? The same ones who have accumulated the worst three year record in league history and he’s done exactly zilch to hold anyone accountable??? For those who think he’s doing it intentionally, it is a disservice to the sport and ruins the integrity of the game all for a 1/14 chance. In my opinion, it is still blowing up in his face and I think he cares more about his casinos and restaurants than this team. He makes a profit whether fans show up or not due to revenue sharing and avoiding luxury tax.
