All in all our defensive rating IS actually better this year and we are 28th . But , by my eye we feel worse lol Hopefully the difference was tate and him coming back will help things get to a better level . Jabari is also a rookie and even though he projects to be better long - term , in the present, Woods offense more than makes up for his inconsistent effort on D Also if we can cut down on turnovers rhat would be really good
And on the Dallas' side of argument, it's definitely not as black/white as some pro/con Wood make it out to be. Wood may have good stats since starting, but let's not forget most of the games he started featured tanking teams. And he's in contract year, motivated as ever. I think playoffs will show us the real him.
The longer it goes without happening(an extension), the less likely it is. Mavericks have shown a willingness to discuss a 2-year deal. If Christian Wood wants to test the market, I don’t know that he’s going to get more money on the market this summer. I’ve talked to a lot of teams. I’ve yet to find one eager to sign up for the Christian Wood experience. … If we’re looking at Mavs rotations player most likely to be dealt before the deadline, it is Christian Wood. Having said that, finding value for him will be challenging. I was talking to an exec with another team and asked what the market is. He said “I think they can get what they gave up, they can get back. They can probably get a late first round pick if they’re willing to take salary into next season.” — Tim MacMahon
I think Turner's 80M/4y set the market for centers like Wood. I still think Turner is better because of defense, and he's younger. But I think Dallas should offer Wood the full extension anyway (4/77), because they gave up a 1st rounder for him and he developed a nice chemistry with Luka. Plus, as far as centers go, I think Wood is Top 5 in NBA in creating his own shot. Dallas is severly lacking in such guys.
I don't have Stein's substack here but it's got notes on Wood https://marcstein.substack.com/p/nb...k-update?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
Except for Roosh, I guarantee you nobody else from these tweets touched a basketball other than in PE classes, including fat Portugal expert who seems to have bold opinions on everything for a guy who never dribbled a ball with defender in his face
