I thought it was an interesting way to structure the contract too .... He didn't get the max which is just over $40m but he gets two years and $60m with a large chunk of that coming right now. He gets part of his money right now but it lowers his cap hit in the next two years giving the Pacers some wiggle room to add help and if it doesn't work out, it's easier for them to trade him later at ~$20m than being at the $30m per figure. Good job by the Pacers GM with the structure.

It may be to set up a trade in the off-season or next year. When is he eligible? A lot of the money is coming this year which makes the next two years very affordable to teams. I’m not a big proponent of getting Turner, but this signing makes him more affordable for the next 2 years (no near max needed).

If we land one select Wemby and try to trade up for Carson Wallace as our future pg or sign one (Harden). But for some reason I can see Jordan or Pops landing #1. Therefore if we land two, draft scoot and move KPJ to sf. Trade up from bucks pick with Tate and take ware from oregon when it’s the right time. In the second round trade up if you have to and select Emoni Bates Scoot/TyTy/Nix (only because he’s close to Green) Green/Gup/Vet Shooter (keep Matthews?) KMJ/KPJ/Bates Jabari/Eason/Vet Sengun/Ware/Garuba Although the team will the be youngest team in the NBA within its 10 man rotation using all our first round talents including KPJ and KMJ, we will maximize our picks talents with PT and fill in our biggest holes which are a new coach, point guard and a defensive center along with a spacing wing. This will be our last straw at good draft picks for a while so we have to do the most with the assets we have Gordon and Tate, and draft the players according to needs and not a bunch of draft picks again although the picks we have taken so far are talented and can all mash well together with the right coach and leader (scoot or Wemby)
I haven’t watched a lot of his game, and the assist to TO ratio is not ideal. But if he plays defense I’m intrigued because I like his 3 pt shooting efficiency. EG and the Milwaukee pick for Bones and expirings?

if u knew nothing about the rockets and read that Chron article, you’d think: 1). Stone has been super active the last 2 deadlines 2). We don’t have an expiring veteran who wants out and is coveted by playoff teams, and who is choking off minutes for other developmental talent.
