Nix and Garuba should not be rostered on NBA teams. I'm not sure they should be rostered on high end teams in Europe.
Garuba is not nearly as bad as @SamFisher mistakenly claims. He is just not being coached by Silas, like, at all. He has strengths and weaknesses. Strengths: Defense, passing. Weaknesses: Offense, shooting.
Seriously where's Mark Williams and Nathan Knight though? Composite stats based on big men steals and deflections don't really show you how few plays end in big man steals and deflections. I mean Garuba has 3 steals since Jan 1. Total. That's great but who gives a **** because the Rockets defense is historically bad in that stretch, even when Garuba's in now and like Charlotte showed, other big men just throw him into the toilet and dunk in his face.
Silas should use Garuba the same way that Rick the Ruler used Chuck Hayes. He had a 0.5% chance of scoring from the high post himself but he still manufactured easy buckets for the Rockets
Garuba kinda sucks…skill is severely lacking when it comes to him he’s 1 of those throwback bigs with no athleticism or skill that teams would keep on the roster just so he could use 6 fouls against Shaq
Garuba looked good there for a while but has basically fallen off a cliff again. I still think he ends up as trade filler at some point.
If he could ever learn to catch a pass, he would be a useful bench player with his defense and passing ability. Don’t know if that is a teachable skill or not, but he is only 20.
