And high drafts and young players who are high drafts (until a certain point) are good trading chips.

I'm assuming in this case 'a dude' means a superstar talent.

A superstar talent doesn't really need a great organization or a great coach for you to know he's that dude.

You get the guy and then you can change everything around him. Look at what the Sixers have done around Embiid. They got the guy now they've changed the GM, coach, and secondary star around him.

But, nothing really matters unless you get one of those guys. Great coach and culture with no Star will at best make a mediocre team. And, no superstar comes to Houston in free agency unless there is another star already here.

Just curious if you could tell us how much Patrick has a role in all of this nonsense. Feels like the only reason Stone/Silas are still around is bc Stone will let Pattycakes run the show with him (something no self-respecting gm would do).

Articles already out saying old owner has final vote on trades and they are trying to rush the finalization of the sale before the trade deadline. Methinks that Gordon wants a contingency plan because some of the trades he is not as big of a fan of.

I have some insider information, guys. It is now D-day. That's decision day. We're going to 99%. Nothing has changed except time has expired. Dead calm. It's coming. He's out. He's in. He's out. He's in. But we'll opt out and he will be traded from Houston. 99%.

(I don't know **** btw, I just want Ego gone)

I have a good source that Gordon will either be here or not by the end of the season. Take it for what it's worth.

I suspect he had a plan B if his managerial career didn't pan out and he could return either to lawyering or does his own thing.

He is a quiet guy and in pressers acted in a role that is not him, hyper nervous.

He also overvalues 'prestige', is a control freak who doesn't like giving up power and is a poser.

I wouldn't call Felicia 'trophy' but my thoughts were getting there.

I continue to see almost no evidence that Rafael Stone knows what he’s doing.

He seems to remain in the job because he works for an owner who also doesn’t know what he’s doing.

As to why Silas is still here, see points 1 and 2, above.

But perhaps the NBA’s system of perverse draft incentives can overcome the combined incompetence of these three men.

It may be a long struggle, comrades, but I’m betting that eventually the lottery will win.

You know, if you don't know what you are doing, winning the lottery may not even make you rich.

He/she may be waiting to get a financial team in place before claiming prize to maximize earnings and investment opportunities, as well as grow that money while keeping as much away from the government. If they do it right they can hide identity behind a business entity in order to avoid media exposing them to the world and all the dangers and risks that come from being a major lottery winner. It's what I would do.

Technically yes. But hinted at in Nook's post above.

It has come to light that it was Eli Witus (Rockets assistant GM) who wanted Sengun. Stone can still get some credit for the final approval. Sengun is Eli's guy.

Harvard grad, a Morey hire. Been with Rockets for 14 years. Stayed after Tillman came in. Didn't abandon ship like Daryl and Tad Brown.
