I think the McCown thing's come and gone as well. I'm fully on board "Team DeMeco" now. The only thing that gives me worry/pause is the fact that Jonathan Gannon seems to have only interviewed with us and no one else. Why would he do that unless he had a "guarantee"? Hoping that's not the case but just kinda seems strange.
I would have no problem with McCown as a Quality Control/QB coach. But no where near OC job. I watch his Youtube channel and evaluating film, he seems very bright.
McCown is not being on any Texans HC staff at all. Anyone that takes that Texans job would be stupid to put that McCown on their staff knowing the history of the team trying to stealth groom him for a HC role. So he can snake them in a couple years for their spot? No thanks.
I haven't heard any noise around Bienemy this offseason. Are some teams still looking at him or has his time to get a coaching gig come and gone?
Oh that's also true. The events of the past two years offer more than enough evidence to the fact. This "coaching search" escapade is beginning to give me a case of the giggles. A week ago, all I was hearing from the Houston talking heads was "Payton" "Payton" "Payton". Now it's "Demeco!!!!!!". This is yet another attempt to pump up fan interest (for those fans who are left). Oh well, if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bulls**t.
And they (Cal & Nick) have no one but themselves to blame for this state of affairs. I wouldn't blame Ryans at all if he chooses to go with a better organization. I really don't see how he could in good conscience believe a word that comes out of both their mouths because they have publicly shown by their actions of the past two years just how little value they place on minority coaches. Demeco would be signing up to become the 3rd scapegoat for the Nick & Cal clown show.
Disagree. It's not that they "put little value" on minority coaches, it's that they chose 2 minority coaches that had "little value" to begin with the past 2 years in an attempt to assuage the image and narrative portrayed by the media about the Texans ownership. Culley and Lovie wouldn't have gotten a sniff from anyone else had the Texans not hired them. I think DeMeco would actually have a greater sense of security here because of that media "image" the Texans have, and whether perceived or real there's no way we wouldn't give him a "long coaching leash" so to speak because if not the media would rip us even more relentlessly. Plus I could just see it if it turns out to be Gannon. He gets a 2nd year and then the media chimes in unison......"Hmmm, Culley and Lovie only got 1 year while Gannon gets a "year 2". What difference can we see in these 3 coaches?"!
So Payton needs to immediately accept whatever the Panthers are offering? Otherwise he is not all in? This does not make any sense.
so albert breer states cals choice is demeco and caserios is gannon.. lol.. If cal really wants demeco you tell caserio to gtfoh, YOU PICKED THE LAST coaches and look where we at lol
If true, sounds like Caserio is posturing to protect his reputation with both Cal and around the league. If Cal wants Demeco, that’s what we’ll get (assuming Demeco wants the job here). By pushing for Gannon, Caserio is kind of in a win-win. If Cal is right on Demeco and Texans flourish, that’s good for Caserio. If Cal is wrong, Caserio just says see I told you to go with Gannon.
Yeah if cal wants Ryans then there is no other choice only question after that is will cesario get with the program or get lost
This is kind of where I am. I would actually be super excited about a Steichen and Bryce combination. Not sure why he's not getting as much love as Ryans or Gannon. I'd also be happy with DeMeco, but not for sentimental reasons. I think he will be a great HC wherever he goes next.
if im the owner of the team, i would be bro i have another shot at it, you had two hires in 2 years lol
