Lol. Keep white knighting Bobby. You're one of the most pathetic people on the internet. Go outside, get some sun, something. Stop wasting oxygen .
I looked so much like him growing up that I got nicknamed "Maloney" and even had it on my letter jacket. Hence the avatar. I also saw him at Hooters once but didn't approach. Never meet your idols and all that. Was is this thread about, anyway? I didn't read it because it seemed like it might be painting Matthew in an unfavorable light and I'm not here for that.
I remember being like an 18 year old kid at a game and hearing a guy in the stands behind me describe Matt Maloney as "the next John Stockton". I remember thinking "I like Maloney too but that seems a bit extreme." We all loved him his rookie year. Also, a few years ago a friend of mine texted me drunk at some bar with Matt Maloney. He's still in Houston.

January IIRC, just when Price was settling in. Threat was no treat. Chuck tried to talk KJ out of retirement.
$17 mil, much of which was paid to him while he was out of the league. Living up to those Ivey league smarts
We didn't hate him but this thread hits me in the memories. We absolutely had a shot at the time. I was too young to realize he was not Sam Cassell. But did we know what sam Cassell was in 1994?
Dude has a twitter account. although he doesn’t seem active on it anymore https://twitter.com/mattmaloneynba?s=21&t=WAXN1_uR9yk5BoEPu1ChDg
Cassell and Horry both had value, that's how we got Barkley for them. Cassell was coming off an injury his final Rockets season and wasn't himself in the playoffs against Seattle. We may have blown things up a year too soon. But time was ticking on Hakeem and Clyde so I understand it.
I saw him at a 5k once just a couple years after he left the league, running it with his shirt off from the start because of course.
Brent could really shoot it but wasn't big and athletic enough to play NBA defense very long and was pretty good at throwing the ball to the other team. So the idea might have been to give him 30 minutes, but it was never going to happen. The Price / Maloney rotation was definitely a step down from Kenny Smith / Cassell. I remember when Brent got hurt, pointed at his knee and Barkley slammed the scorers table. They didn't have the roster to withstand that.
wow, yes. Brent blew-up his ACL same time I blew up mine skiing in Vermont. We rehabbed together in Methodist, Dave Macha who’s now on the Rox staff was our PT. That was a forever ago. BP was very "God has a plan, everything happens for a reason" type of guy during the rehab… Also, wasn’t E-mail Davis supposed to be the original back-up, and then he blew an ACL, too? Or am I mistaken?…
