exactly, I’m not sure why people here are upset they’re clearly tanking I would hate to get the 14th pick. If we suck might as well suck just as bad for this year when silas’s contract is up. Now if he renews Silas then we really have a problem. I think he will be let go at the end of the season when gets the tanking job done

Don't you mean BREAK THEM UP? The Rockets are way too good at this tanking thing. We all know why Stone is in the huddle and that's to make sure we continue to lose without making it look TOO obvious.
Green goes off, we get the lead. Halftime Green settles down and we're losing big.... then late 4th quarter coach be like... "Green, you still want that 40-burger?" Go get it.

What if we lose every game and not get the top 2 picks?

Yeah. I was halfway open to the idea of a GOOD general manager having some control over the staff 5-6 years ago and I still don’t have an issue with a GM going to bat for a particular coach if they were in the G-League etc.

However, I have concluded that a GM shouldn’t be picking a head coaches staff. If the GM is so set on having so much control, they can go coach the damn team. They won’t, because the truth is 90% of them don’t know HOW to coach and/or how to mentor.

An organization needs the head coach and general manager to share some sort of common culture or philosophy or it won’t work. However, IF the general manager picks a head coach that shares common values, then the head coach will pick the proper assistants.

Daryl Morey is/has been a very influential executive and the current NBA front office has been more influenced by him than anyone cares to admit. Why do you think that Morey was willing to try and make it work with McHale? Because McHale wasn’t a system or an X and O guy. Morey believed he could control the offense and defensive system the Rockets ran while McHale acted the part of a figure head leader.

Who the Rockets head coach is next season is going to tell us a lot about the Rockets front office and the power structure. Stone hasn’t wanted a strong or experienced head coach because of his insecurities. If we name another coach without head coaching experience, that will be why.

Even if this is the case it's still a Silas problem in the end. If that's the case, a true NBA veteran coach would have cussed out Stone, dressed him down in the coaches meetings, and likely would have resigned.

That being said, Stone is too big for his britches, and ever since he took over the job you can just see his head explode. The way he talks he always comes off as someone who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, and disingenuous.

Tillman has to not only let go of Silas ASAP, but I also think that it would send a positive sign to the basketball world, and the fans if he also let go of Stone before the trade deadline. You just CANNOT let someone like this who has been this bad make super critical moves at the deadline with his ego, track record, and with his agenda. The person in the front office who should be making calls at the deadline should be the most senior, hard working professional who has no agenda, and nothing to prove.

I agree but #3 is a big one: go work the f*ing phones. Go work with your scouts to super-charge your draft knowledge.
Go hire some better assistant coaches if you don't like what's happening.

It's all about the tank period. Tilman is behind everything. Stone is following orders.

Stone has no real grasp of how unwise that is.

He is a clown for doing that.

The Rockets won the Tank wars two years in a row. There's no indication that another rookie is the answer. Yes you do still position yourself to continue be in a position to draft high by not making stupid trades to get washed up veterans, but at the same time it makes no sense to OPENLY regress the two jackpots (talent wise) you already won just because you want to HOPE for another jackpot (talent wise).

There is ZERO evidence to suggest even if we got lucky again and landed a top 5 talent that they wouldn't be in the same boat that Jalen and Jabari are in now IF the organization does not drastically change it's culture, coaching, and locker room preparation to then actually get after it on the court to compete.

It goes beyond Stone if Tillman is allowing it to happen. Too many hands in the cookie jar is an organizational failure. Silas might be a bad coach, but if he’s being handicapped by his own GM we will never know how much of it was him and how much was everyone else. It’s not a good look at all.

    DIVISION ****ING 3?

That is barely college sports, Div 3 is club ball at best, they don't even offer scholarships it is like for guys that just want to keep playing sports but aren't good enough to get a scholarship to do so.

    Div 3 is a joke....

Thank you for bringing this up. People want to act like this **** is new. It's OK when dork elvis Morey does it but it's a different narrative when Stone does it (insecurity reasons). Lmao

Stone has to do it for draft purposes, Morey did it because he was a narcissistic and thinks he knows more than anyone else, just for self pleasure.

That just agitates me to no end. Owners hire the best gm available. Gm hires best coach available. Owner stays out of gm way. Gm stay out of coaches way. Easy chain of command and easy accountability to give credit where it’s due and when it’s not.

there are answers out there, just a Stone’s throw away.
