I just heard rumors (from the Powers That Be) of Barry Zito for Jose Reyes and change. A few people are saying it's a done deal. Is it? It's definitely not 100%, IMO, but it is close to happening.

If the rumors are indeed true, you heard it here first.

that would be a steal for the mets...i dont think oakland should give up on zito this early, especially after winning yesterday. plus he only makes about 3 million a year.

I know, I just didn't even know who Jose Reyes was and had to take revenge for having to google him, even though I live in New York and have even been to like 3 met games this year so far.

You need to play fantasy baseball. I don't care about the Mets but I know who Reyes is. (Then again fantasy baseball probably is low on your care-o-meter.)

I can't see the A's doing this, not with Huddy still on the DL and Redman faltering. Kirk Saarloos has been great filling in Hudson's role, but the A's have virtually no one to take Zito's spot. Justin Duchscherer is possible but he has been below average recently. They traded away Mike Wood, and Joe Blanton is not ready.

The only way I see this possible is if the A's get Tyler Yates or Scott Kazmir but even then it's doubtful, as I don't think they're ready for the majors.

I just want to say again that this is merely a rumor and sort of a "friend of a friend of a friend said..." type thing than direct confirmation (like the Beltran deal info was).

Still, the source was good enough to justify posting.

I'm glad I opted for Mulder instead of Zito this year in fantasy baseball...

I always knew we would regret the day when Vescey became one of those big bad senior members (sic contributing members).:( :p

BTW - has John Olerud got traded? A guy I work with who is a huge Mariners fan (he is pretty disgusted with them now) was telling me that he thought he heard that Olerud is gone.

So, Vescey can you ask your friend of a friend of a friend to verify this very important information for us??

I, along, with the rest of the BBS eagerly await your news on this.:D

I believe Olerud is no longer with the Mariners, I think it was Aurilia designated to the minors.
