How's that working out? Stephon Marbury had great handles. (Edit: So did Rafer Alston, and hundreds more street ball style guards.)
Not at all, most quality PGs are combo guards these days.....in fact almost all of them are. But people are pedantic and want to argue about PG this or PG that, and don't want to acknowledge that the number of pure PGs you can count on one hand. DD
Yeah, no. I’m afraid when KPJ is on the floor, he’s gonna head honcho, and do whatever the fk he wants which includes not involving Sengun enough.
I think what we thinking is . . . "positionless" basketball The end of the day . . . What you and others are saying is If Silas wants to save his job . . . .. COACH!!!!! aka . . . IMPLEMENT A SYSTEM! Watching the games . . . generally speak . . . you have no idea what is gonna happen possession to possession We are shocked when we see a play develop (maybe just me) It's insane that we cannot RUN THE BREAK nor Defend it It's the seemingly cluelessness and unpreparedness of our players that is the problem Rocket River
I mean, it's possible he still has some trade value based on his draft slot, if you think we need to move guys to get a guard, you might as well move Green before he destroys the rest of his value with his godawful performance. I'm just asking who you realistically think the Rockets could get for him.
Bickerstaff came into a situation where his coaching of D worked. Silas has been an assistant on several teams and he is too far gone in his theories. Everyone can run his Five Out, it's nothing special, the others just play better Defense. He can't control the locker room like Bickerstaff can. Also Bickerstaff wasn't exactly bad here, he just continued at a mediocre to below average record after McHale's bad outcome. (made the playoffs I think) Couldn't coach veteran teams, I remembered.
Until Green learns to handle the ball, or learns to be a dead eye catch and shoot player and move without the ball to create space, then yes Bench Green! KPJ is 40% 3pt catch and shoot player. That's something that can be capitalized on more than a streaky slasher who can barely dribble, too weak to score in extreme traffic, and depends on circus shots to score. The offense needs to run alot more like GS. Kpj brings ball up the court and immediately passes to sengun. Move without ball, catch and shoot and slash. Multiple people that can make the right decisions is a good thing to have on the floor. Kpj just needs to learn to move it around and make that decision faster. That is all. Use Alpern like GS uses Draymond.
I imagine you could create a hybrid of the two. KPJ does his thing some of the time, things run through Sengun the rest of the time. Most importantly, keep the ball the hell away from Jalen Green or have him on the bench for someone who can play.
Actually I want him to let it fly, but I want it off a post up, pass out as a first option. And if Sengun is not open, I want KPJ to COOK and let it fly....as part of that. KPJ is our best 3pt shooter....lately. DD
No more my turn your turn with kpj as the pg. The offense should only b sengun as the offensive hub. Sengun will set his teammates up, kpj can bring the ball up but needs to pass it to sengun as soon as he pass the half court. The kpj pg experiment was a failure, and a big waste of time.
Some of yall deserve this team.. Vendettas got yall in your feelings... But then you'll come right back next post and put your fake ass GM hat on.. Straight comedy ..
Bingo. The Rockets know what they have, but they have a plan to position themselves to be the highest bidders for the number one pick. At this stage of the season, it would be stupid if we didn’t end up with the worst record or jeopardize it by running everything through Sengun (who clearly is our best player) for a couple of Ws.
How Stephen Silas saves his job, a post by Derp McFlopsky. First call Raffle and tell him and the human toe where they can shove it. Say "I'm the coach and if you fire me I'll squeal like the pig that knows he's dinner to Adam Slimer." Second, they can buyout Gordon or he can just go A-WALL (get it?! budumpsshhhh) tf we need a disgruntled postman hanging around for anyway? Clearly he isn't mentoring anything but the team cafeteria. New starting lineup Washington-Porter-Martin-Smith-Sengun Rotation Tate-Green-Mathews-Eason-Garuba Bench Nix-Christopher-Literally just some guy-Fernando-Boban Outplay the guy in front of you, take his starter spot. Get outplayed, lose it. Also whoever plays the best likely gets to come back next season. No guarantees. Go win like 10 games in a row and then take time off after all-star break to grieve. Prove he can coach and let John Lucas' already stellar W/L record sustain a zero win tank. 20-62, draft bpa, sign veterans other than Vanessa Richardson. Show up next offseason angry AF and not all happy clappy. Something like that.
Why would you even entertain the idea of Silas saving his job? The fact he is terrible with rotations, timing, game flow, adjustments, ect is one thing. If he has to take advice from a fan online on how to save his job he is already beyond screwed. If you put something like "if I were Silas this is what I would do" I would understand but giving advice on how to save his job is baffling to me. Even if he did all the things you suggest I would still find him to be the worst coach in the league.
