KPJ: Can someone explain to me why he has become Clutchfans favorite whipping boy?

I get the point and I do think that we are totally ignoring the defensive end...while we loved seeing Alpi explode on offense we did give up 140 points to an awful Lakers team.

I wish we would have hung our hat on defense this year and DEMANDED accountability and played through Sengun and KPJ on offense.

Yeah you could hide him at the 4 on defense, but does Capela fit with Sengun on offense? That would be a nightmare for spacing. And then the logical next step would be something like, how about Capela-like player on defense but with a 3 point shot? And that's a player that doesn't really exist. It's a hard puzzle to solve.

 

Lin fans were a lot more numerous than Sengun fans, but it was a lot easier to just tune them out. SOFs have made this forum pretty unbearable at the moment. There's a delirium to some of it that Lin fans didn't have

 

Yeah, I agree. I meant like jokic elite. Even then, jokic has to get pulled for some defensive possessions in the playoffs. Sengun being undersized is really gonna be tough to overcome. Maybe Wemby could cover for him if we draft him?

Myles Turner is pretty close. But, again, when you have that 3 point shot, you want to be featured. Having that 3 point shot pulls you away from the basket and can pull your defender away, too, but it hurts your rebounding, putbacks, etc. Maybe as long as Turner gets the max, he wouldn't care about his offensive numbers as much.

he's not gonna be a pure 5 defender that you would need to protect sengun. I think with Jokic, it's worth going for and building around. Someone who's at the Sabonis level, it's completely stupid to try to build around. I suppose it's theoretically possible that IF jabari becomes an elite dpoy level wing defender AND you get Wemby AND Wemby is a legit mobile DOPY level center, then MAYBE you could have a good enough playoff defense to survive Alpi

 

I'm not even sure why we still talk about defense. Defense only matters if you can actually score points. When Sengun sits the Rockets struggle to score. So who cares if we have a better defense? The league is slowly transitioning away from defense. Games are faster paced and scoring is just up across the league. We should just embrace it and just out score teams. It be much more fun to watch and maybe the league would actually respect us more cuz it's obvious when we get 0 calls.

If we actually become any good then we can worry about defense. But right now it's a moot point. I'm more worried about our trash offense.

 

Both teams have improved if you look at the big picture, Indiana has a chance to be much better w/o Sabaonis.

Sabonis is capped. Similarly to Sengun, he's just not going to improve defensively but to be fair, let's see how they play in the Playoffs.

 

Because it puts a ceiling on the team. The kings at this point are a completely hopeless lost cause. Are they fun to watch? I guess, does that matter if you have no chance when it matters? Not to me
