C'mon, tell us how you really feel. BTW I can't stand the guy either. When they had nim paired with that other guy John something-or-other I hated them both. Now they pair him with that girl whom I don't think knows much about sports. I guess they figure if they try to get us with eye-candy (I don't think she is that great) then maybe we won't realize Renner stinks and she is clueless. McIlvoy got his start in Beaumont and I used to enjoy watching him. He at least knew what he was talking about and didn't act like an idiot.
the over-dallasization of that show doesn't help me at all, either. can't wait until the rockets and 'stros have their own network.
Since I got Direct TV I stopped watching regular Houston TV channels. It's not that I can't watch it, I just don't want to anymore.
He probably could, but either he likes living here, or has ties preventing him from taking off. Same thing with Kenny Hand. Sorry Chance, but I would still like to see another all (or even 50/50) sportsradio station in town. Competition is a good thing. However, it is iffy whether the market could support it. Yep. Sometimes I think it is just a matter of "who picks up the phone first?"
i use to live in the same neighborhood as the man. was a nice guy. things seemed to be going fine for him, but then i remember a divorce. after that point, didnt seem like he had it going anymore.
I just found this: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/barron/2688551 FSN's McIlvoy ready for Channel 2 debut Notebook By DAVID BARRON Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle Having ironed out the final details of his departure — for the most part — from Fox Sports Net, Randy McIlvoy will debut Aug. 2 as sports director at KPRC (Channel 2). Before we continue, however, let's get the obligatory "make the guy at the other station feel old" inadvertent backhanded compliment out of the way. "I remember growing up in Houston watching Bill Worrell and Ron Franklin and Craig Roberts," McIlvoy said. "I also grew up watching Bob Allen. So this is like coming full circle for me." McIlvoy's last day at FSN, where he won a Lone Star Emmy as anchor of Southwest Sports Tonight, will be July 26. However, he has agreed, with Channel 2's permission, to continue working selected University Interscholastic League and Big 12 events on cable, much as his predecessor, Chris Wragge, moonlighted on USA Network's golf coverage. That agreement reflects the strengths that Nancy Shafran, Channel 2's news director, believes McIlvoy brings to the station. "I think he's about as knowledgeable as they come on local sports, not just on the pro level but on high schools," she said. "And he's from here (Houston), which is important to us." Expect McIlvoy to devote more time to high school topics, building on his experience with FSN's High School Xtra magazine show and on the fact that many viewers already are familiar with him from his work on FSN's 30-minute nightly show and its Texans Huddle weekly show. "I want to find the good stories that are out there," he said. "If I get three minutes, I want to make the best three minutes for that night. I don't want to fill out the time and call it a night. "I'm an aggressive reporter. I may not break stories every night, but I'll be on top of things. I'll be working with good people, and aggressiveness will be our nature."
When I read that article, I was afraid the new guy would be FSN's big haired, goofy guy. I am very relieved that it isn't him.
I don't care fpr Small, but the Voice of the Texans is a moron. I know he is new to the area (more or less), but he is completely ignorant of any local sports that didn't happen five minutes ago.
