ive been thinkin about this lately. i know this is a very sensitive issue, so, if ever i offend anyone on this board, i would like to say right now that im sorry, i didnt mean to, and no, i am no racist. as a matter of fact, i respect everyone no matter what skin color you have. as long as your good on the inside, you got my outmost respect. but anyways, here's where i wanna start a lil conversation... people always say we should get rid of racism and stop treating each other differently just because your skin color is different. but how can we slow down racism if we, ourselves do it. even if its the most simplest thing as wearing hiphop/baggy clothes. i have seen alot of black people make fun of people who arent black but wear hiphop clothes ( meaning, throwback jerseys, baggy shirts and pants, matching hat-shirt-shoes, bandana/du-rag kind of clothes ).. im asking why? just because majority of hiphop community is made up of black people, just because some of the name brands are black-owned companies, does that give enough reason to make fun of non-black people who wears them? i just dont get it why some gets laughed at for something small and simple as clothes. i mean, is it illegal or something to wear clothes like that if your not black? is it because of media? social mentality? i just feel sorry for those guys who likes to rock them but couldnt because they are afraid of being laughed at. because they are afraid of getting beaten up. because they dont wanna be embarassed. who gave us the right to judge anyone for what they wear? why does the black community take it offensively or a disrespect to them to see, white people, asian people, mexican people, or any other race wear them? it is a proven fact that the most copied style here in america, is a black man's style. but how can clothes be disrespecting to others? can you please help me out.. i wanna clear this thing out so i wouldnt wonder anymore why.... once again, to all those whom i offended, im really sorry.. this is not a racial matter, its just something i did to stop the questions in my head, and to hopefully, open the eyes of the some of us. to all those who will reply to this with intelect, understanding, and maturity, i thank you. once again, to the offended ones, im sorry.. its not my intention to hurt your feelings...
I like to wear throwback jerseys, but only from Houston teams. But, if the only way you judge people is by the type of clothing they wear, you need some serious therapy.
A year and half ago on South Beach, Miami, I saw a group of 12 people all wearing throwback jerseys. A few in group maybe, but all 12 wearing the jerseys was high comedy. It was like a disorganized basketball team committing a fashion faux pas.
On VH1's Back to the Nineties, 1994. One segment was about Tommy Hilfiger and how his clothing line was embraced by black kids. The humor was that Hilfiger's clothes was targeted for privileged white kids, but somehow blacks adopted his gaudy clothes. Then they showed footage of Hilfiger saying that blacks loved his clothes because he's respected on the streets or something. Funny stuff. Now, should 90210 kids have felt disrespected?
and all those commercials that have a hip hop theme are targeted toward white audiences, like mcdonalds, nokia, sprite. its all about marketing now.

Style is so damn random. What's in this year? Oh, bell bottoms? Great. What's that? 100 rubber o-rings around my rist is hip? Awesome. It seems remarkably arbitrary and definitely silly. One thing you can always rely on: jeans and t-shirts. Thank God.
