As soon as Stone fires him, the clock on Stone start's ticking.......he will hold for as long as he can. DD
this! the fans have power..its just that fans love the tank so theyre giving it to them and that can change...
I agree with this. I was just explaining why I think they won't fire him this year, not whether or not he should be fired. By all accounts, Silas had a reputation as a good basketball mind before coming here but his greatest weakness seems to be his meek demeanor and poor leadership. I suspect this is why he stuck around so long as an assistant but took this long to break through for a HC job. I honestly don't think it's something he can work on. It would almost be easier if he had a dominant personality then you could just bring in tactician assistants to help with plays. Instead he needs guys like Lionel Hollins to help give him a backbone.
Matthews is a prospect? So if they can all take leaps forward then how come they aren't getting playing time? How come Gordon is getting tons of minutes? Don't give me some "showcasing him for a trade" BS. Nix has been getting playing time all year and has proven nothing except he sucks.
The number 3 pick. I think if the Rockets land Scoot or Wemby then stone is willing to give Silas another year and see what he can do with them, if not I think he cuts bait.
Point differential for Cha, Hou, SA and Detroit are all similar. Pop, one of the best coaches of all time has the worst differential in the league. Another silly narrative down the drain.
If he and Stone have an understanding-- that we're tanking this year-- I fear he'll be around next season. If only JVG were willing to take on the challenge. Surely the roster will be improved; I mean, how could it not be improved? Please, JVG, please...
He interviewed with the rockets years ago prior to Stone and interviewed with the Hawks and Bulls for HC as well. But, that doesn't change much. He had been considered a top assistant for a while. I'm no Silas fan but that stuff is what was reporter years ago. Maybe you're an insider or something and can refute it I guess.
I don't know, I think people here want to have it both ways. If we were showing improvement it likely would translate to more wins. If Silas was making good decisions and using rotations that made sense, they'd likely be winning a few more games. Then people would complain that they were winning too many games and blowing a chance at getting Wemby. I don't know how intentional it is, but Silas is losing games, which seems to be what most people want. Complaining about how awful his record is, how bad his rotations are, and saying he deserves to be fired seems kind of silly at this point.
Agreed Pop is dealing with the same issues we are (with less talent). If we project out to the end of the season Pop is gonna have 6 or 7 more wins. What can we take away from that? 1). It’s super hard to win on the nba 2). Silas is probably not as bad as we think, but still not acceptable. Silas and Stone are both responsible for our record.
