Well if we’re to applaud him for losing at an all time record pace, then he should be inducted into the Houston Rockets Hall of Fame. At this point, you fire him to make a point to your players that they matter and losing at this pace is not acceptable. Nobody they replace him with on his awful staff is taking this team to the play-in, but they could start to generate a winning mentality while not damaging our draft chances of 14% for Wemby. 3rd worst record still gets the 14% odds.

Y’all gotta understand that stone and the front office are tanking. Silas isn’t tanking, but he’s so bad that he’s accomplishing their goal. When stone is done tanking, Silas will be gone. Idk why we gotta keep making these threads when it’s obvious

You don't have to applaud him or do anything. It's irrelevant. He works for Stone and doing a perfect job for him. It's silly to think the difference between 28th and 30th is worth firing a coach.

It doesn't matter to them. You keep sharing your philosophy, but we're not fans of you we're fans of the franchise. The franchise doesn't believe it, they don't agree that we're instilling irreversible habits, they're not firing him and you keep yelling to fire him. They would 100% fire him if he won a little too much. It's really weird that you still keep yelling about firing him as though you don't understand what's going on.

Is he a good drafter? He took the consensus each time. I’ll give him Tari but even that was a consensus for the most part. Josh looks like a bad pick so far. Garuba stinks. Ty Ty is still questionable. Sengun was a great pick though. But he’s probably had more first round picks than everyone else. He should be able to hit.

I didn’t think they were intentionally losing, and I still don’t believe that the players aren’t trying to win, but the 4th quarter of yesterday’s game basically convinced me that Silas is only a short term rental at this point. They really don’t seem to be trying to improve, and unfortunately some guys actually appear to be damaged at this point.

I'm not so sure about that.

I could see Stone giving him one more year with a roster that's actually trying to win .... They haven't been trying to win, outside of an 8 game stretch before Harden was traded since Silas took over.

And then there's Tilman, is he really going to pay Silas to go away and pay another coach?

If Silas starts out next season strong, he could easily get an extension.

At this point if he said "**** Stone" in the interview they would spin it it's because of his bad times and keep him

The abysmal rotations. I have no problem being organically terrible. It is going to happen playing youngsters. However, teach them the right way to play. Why is 1st round pick Josh Christopher pretty much glued to the bench? Why is TyTy? How can you develop the youth or even see what you have if you aren't playing them? People think the tank is over if we get Wemby or Scoot? That's laughable. It's like they aren't being taught to play as a team until the Front Office/Coach get the roster they want. So let's say the Rockets get first or second draft pick. They are going to spend next year getting them to play as a team, utilize proper rotations, etc. Another wasted year. The coach of the future should be coaching the team now to have some type of functional foundation in place. No it won't increase a ton of wins, but it will increase development.

Yea, there is that pesky "play the right way thing" again.

Seems to just be code for play the way YOU want them to play. Play the players and rotations you want.

They run pick and rolls, pick and pops, double screens, horns, etc. It's all fairly standard stuff. They don't always execute well, but there seems to be this myth that they just iso all day, which is wrong.

Seems like the only real issue you have is why JC and Tyty don't play. I don't know. Maybe it's as simple as the coaches saying you need to show X, Y, AND Z in practice to earn playing time, and they aren't there yet. Or perhaps it just isn't there turn yet. There are 14 prospects on the roster.....

The temper tantrums are tired at this point.

This situation reminds me of when you had to take off from work because the cable company said a guy would be there between 10 and noon but doesn't show until 4:45. You can't really yell at the cable company because they are faceless and don't care what you think because they are the only cable company in town and you're going to pay them or have no TV. So you end up yelling at the poor cable guy who's just trying to exist. Well, right now, the Rockets are the cable company and this board is the only outlet we have for yelling our frustrations.

I remember when we waited for Jalen just like now we wait for Scoot. And then Paolo, and got Jabari. And now we gonna get another one and still suck. With this coaching staff atleast

No better way to put pressure on this organization than to make threads on clutchfans

    Time.

It will take time. The front office has given him instruction to do things that are in direct opposition of winning current games for the perceived benefit of the future of the franchise.

My guess is he starts next season as the coach and he will be given freedom to do whatever he wants with the rotations and they will fire him if he continues to fail with complete control.

Fertitta won't pay 2 head coaches for a full season. They'll fire him at some point next season and move an assistant to interim HC.

buddy, differences in between the best and moderately talented players/teams in nba are minute, nuances and often just a result of a better psychology...they dont say for naught 80% of every skill is mental...

20 pts blowout is just a 6 posessions game...thats why we have so much cases of 20 points leads evaporating every so often...

motivation and chemistry also play a huge role... thats why you see gsw struggling even tho they just won the title

thats why we have so much fluctuation in team placement, title winners and players rankings from year to year...psychology, luck, injuries 3 point variance plays a huge role in it...one good year of shooting 3 pt at higher than 40% launches a top 50 player into a top 20 or top 10 category...

being highly disciplined, organized, well coached, well motivated and chemistred team minimizes the variance and luck

take miami heat eg theyre not a very talented team yet their coaching, hustle, discipline and teamwork makes up for all of that and they contend every year...they dont have talented players or athletic freaks of nature like alperen sengun, jalen green or wemby...still i d always bet on them vs rockets in the playoffs even if it is a match to save my life

thats why you are right that talent infusion wont solve anything...talent is the least of our problems, we already have more talent than we can endure, more than we are even able to develop...

We’re tanking for an historic draft
and why pay more for another coach that may not be as bad lol? Embrace the suck. It will deliver us to the promised land.

That's another reason he has lost the team and nobody respects him. How many movies are there where an athlete or a coach is asked to do something for short-term benefit but refuses to throw the fight or otherwise betray the game? Tons.

The fact that Silas is doing this without any kind of pushback is damning and by doing it this way he has cratered his basketball career. That he cannot see this is incredible. If he's so out of touch with himself, how can anyone expect him to develop young players?

Also, being a coach in pro sports means standing on the line between ownership and players. It's a tough place to be. If you come to be seen as a tool of ownership, you lose the team. If you don't support the players, you lose the team. If you allow ownership to dictate playing time, you lose the team. If you lose the team, it doesn't matter what you've done for ownership, you're getting fired.

Unless, I guess, if you're Silas coaching for the Tilman-owned Houston Rockets.
