Look at those highligths. There are almost no shooter highlights (I consider some of them more like scorer shots)... Impressed with his quick development. Surprisingly, shooting range is where he is struggling the most. Everything else offensively, we're watching very significant progress. And very soon. I'm starting to see star potential offensively. Rockets gotta get rid of Porter and focus their offense on Sengun, Green, Jabari.
I would be more encouraged if there were a bunch of made catch 3 pointers. That's way more valuable than a driving mid-range Im glad he didn't have the lid over the rim on putbacks like he has in the past, though the Kings have zero rim protection, even less than us, at least that's some progress. I still don't see him as anything more than a role player though and just tiers below what we thought we were getting. Hope I'm wrong
Man looks like a different player without kpj. Running fast break Fade away shot that was a fun game watching smith do well. but the fun time is almost over, it's almost time for smith to become a scarecrow once more at the 3 pt line when kpj comes back.
Nah, he can't dribble so he will never be a star. Remember? Seriously, he shoots much better pulling up than C&S. Looks like he's one of those rhythm shooter.
I was a Paolo guy and I have a huge bias against prospects that can’t dribble well. I think ball handling is one of the most underrated parts of making the transition to the nba. But I have been surprised at how impressed I am with Jabari’s potential, especially in light of the fact that he’s not shooting well. I see a guy with a good basketball IQ and a very tough, competitive mentality. I see a physical player who is only starting to grow into his body. He’s a much better rebounder than I expected. His defense is still improving but I have no doubt that he can be an all-defensive team guy. if he keeps working on his ball handling and passing, and assuming his shooting comes around, this guy is going to be a very good nba player. We can debate what his ceiling is, but his floor is very high. It will be interesting to see what kind of player he is 5 yrs from now. I think with his work ethic he’s going to be a really good player on both sides of the ball. He’s not even in a system that maximizes what he does well. He’s another guy that will benefit from a good facilitator running the point. And I do like him next to Sengun.
It's not like he sits around all day. His three ball will be back. Remember how much rookie snipers struggled with their 3 ball last season. He could still be adjusting. So he's averaging 12 pts on 11FGs. Cade for a rook scored 17pts on 16 fgs and this year 19 points on 18 fgs and people were ready to crown him. ooo lala Cade scores, he rebounds and gets assists. The way I see it Jabari is in the same trajectory just replace running an offense with running a defense when it's all said and done. Don't lose hope! The future isn't written for anyone!
His dribbling has clearly improved. I'd like to see him finishing stronger around the rim, but it's good to see hm not quit on plays down there on both sides of the ball. There wouldn't be much to complain about if he were just shooting like the shooter we thought we drafted.
I've often heard him described as a movement shooter by professional scouts. We would be hurting him and our whole team if we parked him in a corner to just catch and shoot; he is better at moving and attacking.
Looking at how high he builds his shot and how flat it looks from long distance, I would say he's struggling with the NBA range adaptation. His mechanics and his touch are very good, his release is high and quick, and he's always able to shoot in balance. So I'm not too worried, I think it's a matter of time, lower body strength and repetitions. Once he gets there and gets more touches, watch out. Not thinking in him as a #1 option (I think Green can be that) but he could be a proper 2nd-3rd option while being a first/second defensive team player, and that is an all-star caliber player.
Nice highlights! Not saying he’s going to be anywhere close to this player but I see traces of Scottie Pippen in his game.
He still moves awkward as hell on the court sometimes. I don't think he's ever going to win style points, but good things do seem to happen when he's being aggressive like he was last night. He should be constantly moving around on offense. No more of this parking him at the 3 point line business.
So if the market decides he is worth the max, then you are ok resigning him for that? So just because a team is desperate and or foolish the Rockets should match? Why?
It was not that nice of a dunk and the only reason it was posted was because it was on Murray as if that meant something. Why does what i comment on bother you so much, you could have just ignored it, are you just hating on me?
Splitting the double at 1:00 That crossover at 1:30 The defense, the boards, the hustle, he's starting to show handles on drives and in transition he's dropped a couple of absolute dimes. Everything but the 42% 3 point shot. Going from college to NBA at 19. It's coming, he's going to be a multi-year all star through his prime.
Are you an idiot? How can I tell you if I’m ok with a max when I clearly said that we have a few years left and see how he develops and turns out prior to making those decisions. Either way they will have a choice. I have no idea what I’ll be ok with until that time comes. If he’s playing like today then obviously no. If he’s playing like a two-way all star, PF version of Klay Thompson, then sure, sign him up for the max. It’s dumb worrying about that now as the Rockets will have a choice either way. And we have no idea what the market will offer yet.
I didn’t even know it was on Murray initially, and don’t care that’s its him. For a young Jabari it was a nice dunk. It wasn’t a Ja Morant type of dunk or anything but certainly a nice dunk for our rookie. I was wondering about your comment because it shows you’re just a hypocrite acting like you’re unbiased towards Jabari when a simple nice video of him dunking gets your panties in a bunch. It seems like you’re hoping that he fails and busts. It was a weird, loser comment
