I know he's a restricted free agent, but what about Mihm?? He went to UT and is 7 feet tall. With the slim pickins in this year's FA market that's good enough for me. my .02
Just saw Hakeem today....I think he is in town taking to CD (not really)......our back-up has arrived!!!
I always have a soft spot in my heart for Bateer... we were born in the same region in China. one of my cousins is named Bateer.
Are you all STILL talking about Bateer??? Guys get off the crack. Say no to the pipe. Bateer ia not a good NBA player. He has done NOTHING in the NBA. His recent success is going against weaker international competition. We need someone to play 15 minutes or more for Yao in a game (depending if Yao is in foul trouble). There are several centers that can do a better job (Ostertag, Milm, ect..).
But just check how was the dream teams in the recent "weak" international competition. I believed US finished sixth in the world championship. I know Kobe and Shaq did not play, but the team still consists mostly starters from the NBA team.
We are talking about individual center matchups not team matchups. Again, what has Bateer accomplish in the NBA. Is he on a NBA team? The US Team finished sixth because they did not play well as a team. The US Team barely practice at all before the Olympics. The team also did not have any chemistry.
FYI, Bateer got 19pts(6-8, 1-2, 4-4), 7 boards, 1 assist and 1 block against the USA in 2002 World Championships. He tied Paul Pierce as the leading scorer of the game. Not too shabby at all. http://www.fiba.com/pages/en/events...titionCode=WMM&Season=2002&fisC=false&lang=EN
Remember he did that against some top (if not best) NBA players, like J. Oneal, Ben Wallace. Don't diss him just because it is a popular opinion.

Oneal, Brand and Ben Wallace in that game. http://www.fiba.com/pages/en/events...titionCode=WMM&Season=2002&fisC=false&lang=EN
I understand Rox wanting to stay a million miles away from Wang as ZZ is bottoms with the Chinese powers that be. I assume there is a reason Rox do not want to reunite buddies Mink and Ming. However, it has never been shared with me.
I don't think it would hurt to give Mengke Bateer a chance on the Rockets. But lots of critics say that his game only flourishes in international play and will never succeed in the NBA. Supposedly, he is too slow for NBA play and would pick up too many fouls and lacks lateral speed.
Did the world really need ANOTHER Bateer thread, especially one about a game that occured 2 years ago?
You already posted this in the "Bateer answer for backup center" thread, so you didn't need to make a new thread. It just makes it seem like you are screaming for attention.
People forget too quickly. Yao wasn't exactly geared to the NBA style of bball when he first came. Recall his first games??? Look at what he is now. Bateer was never given enough opportunity. Yao was No.1 pick so he was different.
