No one is going to take this guy seriously. SOme people will jsut bet and raise the price to ridiculous amount and they won't pay. You will just get a negative rate on your ebay account as a consequences.

Remember when you opened a pack of cards and you were just happy to get a Rockets player in there.

Then they threw in a few special cards...which was cool.

Then they all of a sudden these seemed to be more special cards in a set then normal player cards.

When I was collecting cards were special because of what they meant to me. Now....its just about the money.

(OK Im 23 and way to young to be saying stuff like this. I think I need some help....things were not better in my day...) :D

I have a card question. My son got a card at FanFest. It has Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens on the front, and a small writeup on the back. The card says "10 of 12" on the back. It's an Upper Deck brand card. Is there really only 12 of these cards in existence? Is it valuable because of this? How or where can someone judge the value of this card?

It's probably a 12 card set and he has card 10 in the set. Usually if there are a certain number of one card, it will be designated by something like 10/12.

I think the 10 of 12 might possibly mean No. 10 in their line of 12 All-Star special edition offerings??? Here are some Fan Fest Baseball Cards links but I could not find too much on the Upper Deck cards for some reason. I would think that card has more value than the other 3 major card companies if I remember correctly...

Fanfest a big hit at All-Star Weekend
    By DOUG CATALDO
    Bucks County Courier Times

HOUSTON — If you could stop the world for a week and enter a baseball paradise it wouldn’t even come close the extravaganza known as Major League Baseball’s All-Star Weekend.
The highlight of the weekend might have been Fanfest, the five-day end-all, beall baseball celebration.

The collectibles industry is a huge part of Fanfest. All of the major manufacturers put forth a great effort to introduce new collectors to the hobby while also delivering a wonderful group of limited edition keepsakes for the long time enthusiasts. It’s an opportunity for them to showcase their recent and future products, put freebies into the hands of true baseball fans and make significant announcements as to the direction of their companies giving fans the ultimate inside scoop on the next year or so of products.

Fleer was my personal favorite. Its booth was packed with baseball diehards looking to spin the wheel for some free cards and great prizes as well as those looking for the cardflipping challenge that was located just across the George R. Brown Convention Center with the other events such as batting cages, personalized baseball cards and more.

It was great to see that excitement aimed towards the hobby and the turnout here should be a wakeup call to regular card show promoters that just putting some dealers on the floor and getting an autograph guest isn’t going to fill a room anymore. You’ve got to put forth a strong effort backed with a bankroll to impress existing collectors and to attract new ones. The same old same old just doesn’t cut it in 2004.

The Upper Deck trio of 2½ x 3½ collectibles are equally as appealing and feature a jersey card of Andy Pettitte, a solo card of Jeff Kent, and they also did a combo card featuring Houston’s favorite fireballers. Upper Deck brought out a Nolan Ryan Playmakers figure that was made only for Fanfest. It made a major announcement just prior to the show. The company recently purchased the Wingfield collection. For those not in the know, Don Wingfield was a photographer for the Sporting News and shot some amazing photos from the 1940s to the ’70s. Upper Deck now has more than 6,000 vintage photos to add to their card sets and memorabilia items under the UDA banner. I got a sneak peek at some of them, and all I can say is that they are tremendous.

Topps produced a memorabilia card of Lance Berkman, who took part in the Home Run Derby in place of the injured Ken Griffey Jr. It also has a dual card featuring Ryan and Roger Clemens and a card of another popular Houston pitcher, Roy Oswalt.

Fans of the new Sportsclix game were able to get two limited edition figures. Berkman and Garret Anderson were available, and there are only 750 of each.

Topps also crafted area specific factory sets of the Topps base series of cards. Now residents of Chicago, New York, Houston and select other markets can buy a complete set of Topps cards and get a brandnew series of cards featuring players from their favorite city or team. Topps also brought out team sets of Topps Total that went over with the fans looking to score cards of their entire favorite teams.

McFarlane Toys really captured the attention of the fans who weren’t necessarily collectors. It had its two exclusive figures of Roger Clemens and Jeff Bagwell that sold in great numbers, but also brought its their new Hall of Fame line. What really caught the eye of just about everyone who walked by the booth were the oversized production models used to make the figures. The detail and attention given to each and every one of the McFarlane figures is something I get to appreciate every day as I have some displayed around my office.

Overall it was a sensational event. If you missed out, you can start making plans for next year as the game and Fanfest hit Detroit.

I'm going to assume that thing is a joke. I still collect cards. Just got Serena Williams autograph for $102. And Jaimie Fox just boosted her value right up. He was hilarious. But with this MJ/Lebron card, I see no redeeming value. The card can be replicated next year so I don't see the point of it. If it at least had a signature on it or something that would be something.
