I've heard bits and pieces about him maybe getting dealt in the wake of the KMart trade. I guess they're starting over in NJ.

Anyhow, wouldn't Memphis or Dallas make a lot of sense?

Dallas could offer Daniels, the rookie pg, Stackhouse, Finley, Walker . . .

Memphis has a load of reasonably good players . . . J Williiams, Posey, Battier, basically, they could offer up anyone but Gasol.

Both teams fit the profile for Kidd - up tempo team that needs a PG to make the machine go.

    What rumors are floating around?

if they truely are going cheap till they move to Brooklyn then youth and rookie contracts are the keys for the nets

Daniels, Harris, and Howard would be nice to team with Jefferson and euro Nenad they have coming in

When Kidd is on the move out of Nets, then can we offer MoT with our trade exception and pick(s) to get him. Even for me (Kidd hater) seems that possibility very sweet :D

I've heard rumors about Boston showing interest, but there really isn't any chance of him being a Celtic.

BTW, they're not rebuilding: they're crashing and burning. Their franchise moves have much more to do with ownership than anything else. This really sucks for Nets fans, and really illuminates the reasons that the franchise has sucked almost continuously in its history until recently. Blowing up the team gives developer/owner Bruce Ratner an excuse to say, "See? There's no fan interest in New Jersey... so let me build a stadium in Brooklyn!" Kidd has to do the right thing and request a trade out of there, and Rod Thorn should follow suit and step down.

I personally find it doubtful that many teams would offer much for him. As good as he *was* in his prime, his contract is seriously hefty for a PG in his 30s with a serious knee problem. That's a serious gamble to trade for him when he's on his way to post-surgery rehab.

He wouldn't be as hard a sell as Webber, but still.

If I am the Nets I move Kidd. Why try to put a bandage on a huge gash wound? They arent going to patch this thing up with the Martin loss.

The Nets need to move Kidd for either expiring contracts or young players and rebuild. They will have Kittles and Mutombo's contracts come off the books next year as well. That will be HUGE savings for them! Plus they have those 3 #1 picks (many of them are good ones).

The Nets already have low attendence. Who cares if they have to rebuild?

The Nets have run their course with the Kidd/Martin/Jefferson trioka. It is time for them to rebuild.

Kidd must be really regretting not signing with the Spurs last summer. He'd probably be polishing his championship ring right now had he chosen SA instead of NJ. He can blame his wife for making that decision for him.

If I'm a Nets fan, I probably don't exist, since there are like 5 legit fans of the Nets.

Why is Ratner such a bad guy here? There were no fans going to the Meadowlands in the last 3 years, 2 of which saw the Nets make the NBA Finals. Attendance was a joke and they were losing a TON of money. Hello, that's why they sold the team. If I'm Ratner, I'm selling selling selling everything I can so when I get to Brooklyn I have Jefferson resigned to the max, 3-4 lottery picks, and a bunch of other picks, possibly lottery picks making up my roster. It'll be a new fan base anyway, who cares if you alienate the dirtbags in NJ.

Jason Kidd should not do "the right thing" and request a trade, he should go down with the ship he helped sink. He fired Scott, and made the Nets sign Rodney Rogers, Dikembe Mutumbo, and Alonzo Mourning. With that money, the Nets could've re-signed KMart if they wanted to. Enough of this boo-hoo, poor Jason Kidd talk. If he wanted to win a ring, he would've played with Duncan, it's that easy. He chose more money and tried to assemble his own team. It didn't work, now he's going to do the right thing and leave so he can watch from afar as the Nets crash back to lottoland? Please. If anything I hope they deal Kidd to a horrible team like Atlanta for expiring contracts, so Kidd can lose and at least the Nets get better.

Saying Kidd isn't responsible for this Nets disaster is a travashamockery. I hope he never sees the playoffs again, this is all his mess.

Agreed. Ratner (and most everyone else) could see that the Nets were never serious title contenders, have now slipped to simply being Eastern Conference title contenders (and slipping there too), and revenue has been flat throughout.

    NJN Attendence:
    Last year: 26/29
    02-03: 23/29

So if you're going to have to wait 3, 4, maybe 5 years to bring the team to Brooklyn, why not go into hibernation? Why not pawn off guys like Kidd that won't be producing at the same level in 3 years for draft picks?

An unpopular move but a smart one.
