I am really not upset, just amazed that a thread entitled "let's get Jason Kidd" has this many pages.... probably because numbnuts like me keep posting their disbelief....

I never really left. Just don't really post much. Only when I'm drunk and lonely;)

Then why did you quote it in the first place if I agree with you?

That trade could happen, the NJ Nets are very stupid, an example: K-Mart for three first-round picks ... thats stupid

yes its stupid - but they are a good franchise, just could afford all those large long term contracts - so they got something for him

I would liken their owner to uncle Drayton - once a player gets too good to pay, trade em for prospects (or in this case draft picks)

On a side note I saw him at the Starbucks on Montrose near Westheimer about 2 years ago. He looked like he had been up all night doing cocaine.

    What a joke.

Believe me if we had three first rounders to offer I have no doubt the Nets would give it serious consideration. BUT.... we don't.

The Nets are resigned to rebuilding, three first rounders isn't bad at all if you have time on your side. JKidd doesn't. I have no doubt they are thinking about unloading him at some point, just not for Mo Taylor and various other crap the Rockets can offer.

good point - I think that sums up most of the 4-5 BBS page chatter

we don't seen to have enough left on the team to trade for Antonio Daniels... how in hell are we suppose to trade for Jason Kidd

Apples and oranges. Kidd has a huge contract -- there are only a couple of teams that would compete to secure him. NJ is rebuilding. Antonio Daniels has a very reasonable contract. He is younger than kidd. He could help the learning curve of luke reidnour -- Seattle has no need to rush to trade Daniels.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kidd ends up in Dallas once all is said and done.

I could possibly see that. Dallas has a couple of big expiring contracts and if they agreed to take Kittles in return, it might be possible. NJ would probably insist on having Howard and Harris or Daniels as part of that package.

Why wouldn't Dallas pay Nash -- only to pay Kidd more. Dallas took on T. Delk, Stackhouse, Tariq Abdul-Wahad, Just paid M. Daniels alot, how are they going to add Kerry Kittles to the glut at the 2.

Apparently, you haven't met Mark Cuban. None of his moves make much sense.

They only make sense in fantasy leagues. :D Cuban is about the name. Like most fans he hounds after players with big names and reputations, regardless of style of play or actual talent.

Not sure about the salery issue...but for a power move, I could see Cuban doing it. He's
known for doing trades like that.

I mean, what does Dallas want? Shooting wasn't ever a problem in Dallas. It was defense and leadership. If Kidd was to go to Dallas, it would be Kidd's team. Not Dirks.

Kidd made the NJ offensive better. Even though NJ was a defensive team. I'm sure Kidd is dreaming of what he could do with a crew of Dirk, Finley, Daniels, Walker, Stackhouse, Delk, Fortson....etc...a much better offensive team.

Sometimes I wonder if the reason that Nash was traded was because of what he said in an interview before the play-offs.

Someone, I think Jim Gray, asked him about the team's lack of defense. Nash replied with something like, "We are what we are (.i.e. we wont change)."

I remember Barkley refused to play defense too. Look what it got him.

One thing I would like to point out though, NJ didn't exactly trade KMart for 3 1st rounders. KMart was a free agent, and was about to sign a huge offer sheet with Denver, which NJ was unwilling to match. So instead of loosing him for nothing, they did a sign and trade, and got them something in return. Which isn't too bad at all considering the other PF-Boozer left Cleavland for zip.

Jason Kidd - shopped to every team with abundant cap room, I'm informed - will be rehabbing from his fourth knee operation by the time those phantoms of Ratner's opera are prepared to produce.

Yo, cuz, Brucie, didn't Jay Z 'splain to you the idea is to pare down the payroll before selling a team, not after buying it.

Ratner and his crew tried to play it cute by having the opposition do their negotiating for them. Instead of immediately maxin' out Martin, they banked on saving a seventh year guarantee of $20M; if a team went all the way, they figured they could simply match.

But the Nets got outsmarted. What they didn't bank on was how much Nuggets owner E. Stanley Kroenke coveted Martin. Once he took the lead in a game he never would've been in had Ratner done the right thing, he refused to lose Kenyon or get squeezed for Nene. Given the opportunity to compete and an open court to brainstorm, Kroenke's people got ruthlessly creative; the Nuggets threatened to frontload the contract with a signing bonus so succulent the Nets flinched.

Either the thought of being drowned by the dreaded luxury tax scared off Ratner, or it was just the convenient excuse he was looking for to save face and shed salary; Rod Thorn's $3M annual intake will be next to disappear when his contract expires at the end of '04-'05.

An early glance at the upcoming version of the New Jersey Nets and I'm thinkin' one word ... Piscataway. Moving back there will be Ratner's only chance to experience a traditional sellout.

Marylandterps was merely quoting the Vecsey article on Kidd.

Thanks for clearing that up. The ebonics came from Peter Vescey.
