In case you need it to spoon-feed people, here is exactly how Jalen Green has improved this season surrounded by the youngest - and thus dumbest - rotation in the NBA: - He has practically doubled his FT rate and climbing into elite territory in the NBA. Doesn't seem to be slowing down. No rookie from his class has made any improvement of this magnitude in their career. This is a rare trait for NBA players. - He has significantly improved at passing and sharing the ball. - He has learned how to run an NBA pick n roll. - He has added some strength/muscle which has helped him on drives and iso defense. On 3pt shooting he's slightly lower % on slightly higher attempts, so he basically hasn't improved. He has not improved defensively and I'd argue he might have regressed. I do find it interesting that the two areas that he hasn't improved, everyone else on the roster has also not improved or gotten worse. So I believe those issues (high quality 3pt shots, defense) are systemic issues rather than individual issues but that's just like my opinion man. Everyone on the roster is shooting worse, they couldn't have all regressed simultaneously. We'll see how it unfolds.
What metric are you using to say he is better than the players he is being compared to at the same age? If all Green is a Levine clone I will be very disappointed, what impact has Levine or Beal had on winning?
At this point I'll take a Levine or Beal out of him or even for him. He has yet to prove that he is someone to build a team around.
Relies way to much on athleticism and not skill, half the time I’m watching he bulldozes to the rim and shoots without looking. Kinda like Westbrook when he clanks off the backboard, but instead green clanks off the top of the backboard
I will say it here first. When Jalen finds his shot (permanently, I mean, not just for a hot stretch) his entire game will explode and we will be exploding with hysteria Til then, I suppose he is Jalan Green the Chuckster, but he will still do some amazing things and I’m looking forward to seeing him improve.
Everything is full speed with Jalen. He'll beat his defender with his first step but drive into the defense with no plan at all. Unless you are 7ft like Giannis with a ridiculous wingspan and license to knock defenders over with no repercussions, driving mindlessly at the rim is not going to pan out.
It's depressing that what counts as a good game for Green now is a game like tonight where he needs Kobe retirement game level of efficiency
Jalen badly needs someone who can control what type of shots he should be taking. It's pretty embarrassing watching just trying to out quick everyone and just throw it at the rim. When I watch him, half of his shots should not be taken at all, they are terrible if it manages to go in. He should be taking half of the shots he's taking now and only focus on efficiency. What he's doing is not NBA level offense.
Jalen needs to remake his form like Lonzo did. It’s almost similar to Lonzo pre change but less exaggerated. We have enough body of work to say that Jalen can’t shoot. We can’t hang our hat on post 2022 ASB Jalen forever.
He had a decent 3 quarters. Then just garbage in the 4th. Watching green every game playing the same way and failing is like banging your head against a wall. I wonder what's going to happen next game, is Green going to pick better shots and shoot less, or he going to run into the defender and fling it at the backboard
He’s just so maddeningly inefficient. I still think he is going to be great, but it could go another direction if they don’t coach him into being more than a high volume chucker. He needs coaching desperately.
Saw a clip making its way on twitterverse with Mad Max and Sam expressing how learning to change speeds is what takes a player to the next level. Cassell had that in his rookie year others have to learn it. Crossing fingers Green will too. That and shot selection. Too many shots tonight but nothing has changed my thoughts on him or Jabari. Keep working.
On Jabari, everyone is going to remember his dunk over Murray but the one earlier where he tried to soar in on the break and didn't have the lift and got KOd by the front rim was emblematic of his problems for me - guy just doesn't seem to have the athleticism to justify his draft position and i don't see how or when he's going to get it.
I think Bari was already on the fall during the draft, there is no telling whether he would have dropped another spot if the Draft took place later that year.
Set Sengun as central hub. Bring a real PG to Houston. Send KPJ to another planet or set him as the 6th man. Watch all the players rise, especially Jalen. What is currently being done (!) in Houston under the leadership of KPJ and Silas is wasting the team and the players. Wasting their potential. A team's future is being destroyed because of two viruses called Silas and KPJ. Just as unsuccessful tanking as the Sixers. They had at least made a conference semifinal or something. It seems difficult for this team to even make the play-offs in five years.
