I'd chuckle a bit if we ended up drafting Noah Clowney somehow. It would be the "Houston" thing to do.
This draft is so stacked. Orlando has 2 great early picks. Man I wish we could consolidate and pick up another lotto pick in this draft.
Not that I disagree with you but I think it would be more salient to add the top 5 pick and then consolidate assets for a young vet that can buoy the youth a bit.
It's the new rule - every draft is stacked with at least 2 or 3 generational talents! Just kidding. But seriously, people hype these dudes up to be something you know most of them won't be. Most will be either out of the league or some role player/bench player-type. I just hope we can hit on a good one in this draft.
i hear you. And it’s not like we have much more room for developmental prospects. But not all drafts are created equal and most credible analysts say this is gonna be a good one. I sure would like to convert that 2023 Milwaukee pick into something else. I’m not interested in using another late round pick but if we could get another lotto pick in this draft, seems like there’ll be a lot of good talent in that top 10 range. but like u say, we just need to make sure we hit on our pick
Its still early, but man Anthony Black has been disappointing me.. Unlikely but he might even fall to that MIL pick range
I am firmly on the Anthony Black bandwagon. He would compliment KPJ so well as the de facto point guard playing at the 3. Amen Thompson has the same fit but I am very leery of his shot and how much to believe the highlights knowing the level of comp he is facing with OTE. I think that Black projects to be a more athletic, better shooting Josh Giddey or a less defensive Dyson Daniels type.
@i3artow i3aller @sydmill I know he is better than he showed tonight, and the refs made the game tough, but this inconsistency has me feeling pretty low still. He cant seem to string two impressive showings together. I still love what I see defensively and the PnR feel though. The idea of using a top 5 pick on him at the moment doesn't interest me.
I would agree that Black is not one of the best 5 prospects in the upcoming draft. However, what I think he could unlock with the Rockets could well be worth that investment. He is a winner. Defense and passing are unheralded but get Ws and Black does both pretty well. He would also relieve KPJ of some of the facilitating duties on offense. Much has been made about moving KPJ to the bench or to the wing. I am not so sure that he is going to accept such a move without issue when he has arguably been the best player on the team at the 1. Black could slide into the 3 but operate much like a point forward initiating the offense and getting the ball where it needs to be. I just think he works on multiple levels. Amen Thompson has similar potential but I do worry about the other things that Ive mentioned (his broken shot and the level of comp he has faced). IDK, I like Black for this team.
Not really interested him as a prospect. There's plenty of other guys the rockets should be looking at over him especially that high in the draft.
Didn't we just pick that guy at #3 last year? Klay is going to be a HOF so being less lethal is still a all star type of guy.
Why would you trade all of that for Bridges when you have 2 guys already at the same spot and just used a #3 pick on 1? There really is no distinction between a PF and an SF these days, they are asked to do the same things, what does Bridges do that Smith or Eason does not?
