At this point in his career (RH), I'd much rather have Maurice Taylor coming off the bench than Robert Horry. I guess if you just want to unload Taylor's contract, picking up Horry would be alright. But on sheer talent it's Taylor hands down.

In 16 minutes a game last year, Horry averaged around 4 points and 3 rebounds. Mo had 13 and 5 in 27 minutes. Horry is going to be 34 next season as well. I hate to say this, but Horry is a downhill player now, and hasnt been at a serviceable level for the past 2 seasons. He's come up short the last two years in the playoffs.

I would feel much better having Taylor on the court in the final stretch of a game than TODAY's Robert Horry.

i was starting to wonder if i was crazy. i've never been impressed at all with dooling. i've seen aspects of crawford and mcginnis' games but dooling doesn't seem to do anything well.

Very well put Raven.... I also believe the Rockets are playing the waiting game on signing a free agent; namely a point guard. The last one of particular value to the Rockets would be Damon Jones. And if I was DJ. I wouldn't be ready to sign for anything less than the 29 million afforded to Rafer Alston. Its funny how screwed up the Raptors brass can be. Hopefully things work out to where we can either sign DJ, or work out a trade for a starting point guard. My guess is we shall.

It deserves repeating....Memphis's Qualifying Offer for Stromile Swift starts at more than the Rockets MLE. Unless you figure Jerry and Hubie are going to pay Mo T $8m to back up Gasol let's recognize it for the pipe dream it is.

It would only be scary if they were all starters.

    haha...

okay here's a report from the board's unofficial University of Missouri Tigers expert.

Keyon Dooling is a shooting guard stuck in a point guard's body. In college Dooling and Clarence Gilbert formed the Big12 version of the Francis and Mobley show. Dooling had big dunks and one season he was pretty good shooting threes, but he never had to be a play maker, and he left after his sophomore season anyway. It's like you see an athletic guy who's good at basketball but he's under 6'5" so you make him a point guard... we'll not everyone has the skills or mentality to do it. Dooling still occassionally makes sportscenter with some huge dunks coming from a point guard... but that's a novelty. He's not as strong as Francis and his handles *shudder* aren't even better. Plus because he's really skinny he's very injury prone.

If we were to get a guy from MU. I'd want A. Peeler or K. Rush. Those guys would thrive in our offense. Also... why not give Artie Johnson a look? Pre-season all-american it's not his fault MU was mired in controversy. He's Etan Thomas but we can pick him up for nothing.

Smoothie -- I do believe Chris Andersson has been picked up for the vet. exception by someone else (N.O.?) already. I don't know why we didn't do that.

Don't trading Taylor and Griffin to La for Payton and Fox makes the most sense? Afer that, the Rockets could sign someone like Clark or Mihm as 1st big off the bench. Both Payton and fox are free agents after the season, so that clears the Rockets up.
