Looks the best fit for him now since Derek Anderson is out the door. I would of liked him to come back to be backup sg so the bench would be deep. But I think most likely he will go there so he can actually start.

I would think Shandon just became one of San Antonios main targets to add to their team now.

So we will lose Akeem for many reason including Anderson and now he seems to be going to the spurs. How can a team with all the cap room lose and be so inept?

I haven't actually seen anything about Shandon going to the Spurs. It just seems a logical place since the Spurs just lost D. Anderson. I do know that the Mavs are starting to show interest in him.

Spurs mgmt are complete idiots. They have zero chance of contending w/o Derek Anderson and hence, zero chance of retaining Tim Duncan in 2yrs now. I hope Steve starts calling Big Fundamentals every day to begin his recruiting process [IMG]

The Spurs just want to save money on the jersey.

No way is Derek anything like Quitten. Quitten signs a big contract with the Rockets and then spends the entire season and playoffs b****ing about his role. Then, he sulks his way through the playoffs and bad mouths the team, coaching staff, and Charles Barkley during the offseason, forcing the team to trade him for Walt Williams and Kelvin Cato, instead of living up to and honoring the huge contract he signed.

I thought DA was pretty happy with the team, but got pissed when he felt the Spurs were low-balling him on a new contract. He decided to leave, which as a free agent was definitely his perogative.

The Rockets don't have all that cap room unless they renounce Dream, and they can't re-sign Shandon Anderson or Mo Taylor unless Dream takes what they are offering him. They're not inept, Dream is stubborn. And maybe I'm missing something, but how does Derek Anderson possibly signing a free agent contract with Portland make him like Scottie Pippen!?

    Loyalty...

    1 team
    1 year
    1 unsuccessful playoff run
lots of b****ing during the offseason [Spurs ended up offering him the best deal; had to take care of Robinson first]

to Spurs fans, DA is a traitor
just like Quitten is to us

that's all I was trying to point out

I just read today that after the Blazers agreed to terms with Derek Anderson ,Steve Smith demanded a trade.
he said he consider the Spurs ,76ers ,the Lakers or Miami.
    http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian/index.ssf?/blazers/oregonian/sp_73smith21.frame

now as I understood ,the Blazers want to work a sign and trade with the Spurs ,so if such deal will happen I think they will unload Smith to the Spurs ,who might be happy with him (and make us happy with Shandon...)

    Smokey, please.

DA took very little money to play for the Spurs. He gave them a chance, not vice versa.

DA said it's time for the Spurs to "take care of business" and give him a contract he likes. They didn't do that. Now he wants to leave, even if it's for lesser money, JUST LIKE HE DID TO THE CLIPPERS to come to the Spurs. Obviously he hates Popavich and the Spurs almost as much as the Clipps if he wants to jet off to Portland for less money.

    Spurs = a heartless team w/o a real 2 guard.

enjoy your 2 years of playoff exits Spurs fans, lol.

Anderson was in a similar position as our Free Agents. The Spurs wanted to give Robinson 6-7 million, resign DA to 6-7 million and bring in another free agent to return to the finals.

Instead they spent most of their cap on a past prim center (with an ego), and took a risk on loosing Anderson (which they did?).

If the Rockets did give Hakeem 10 million, who would the Rockets take a chance on loosing (Taylor). It's like playing Russian Roulette and shooting yourself in the head, like the Spurs did. But at lease Robinson will be able to buy some more boats to ski behind, I thought for sure he would go on welfare for 7 million a year.

I completely disagree Smokey, Derek Anderson didn't have to take less money to sign with San Antonio. The Spurs should consider themselves fortunate that he even bothered to take less money and sign with them. Unlike Scottie Pippen who forced a trade and limited the Rockets leverage, Derek Anderson is a FA, he has the option of staying or leaving. As for an unsuccessful playoff run, they got to the WCFs, and it isn't his fault that he was fouled hard and separated his shoulder. Where's the loyalty, he doesn't have to be loyal to them this offseason, but he sure was loyal last year when he took ridiculously less on the open market to sign with the Spurs!
