Reports are the Saints are asking for a 1 +: While I agree with you, re: their mindset - I would never trade picks for a coach, and I certainly wouldn't engage in a bidding war (in terms of compensation) for one.
They’re asking for a 1st but agreed. If they take a QB, they’ll need to invest regardless to put pieces around him. Payton probably helps Bryce and this team in the long term more than a 2024 rookie.
Nick seemed weird during the press conference yesterday. No telling what’s really happening behind closed doors
I just want to know the oddball candidate we interview. This years Hines Ward, Man this makes me think Cal has a coach in mind but they wants final roster decisions or something like that and have Caserio just run scouting, contracts, etc.
I don't know man, Cal might have another dude lined up after the coaching hire. Nick said he was okay with getting fired if the new coach didn't think he fit with the best needs of the team three times. I could be completely wrong but it appears that Cal has him on a short leash
I'm not sure how to read this. Her sources are normally players so this is a weird thing to figure out. If Caserio's not on solid footing then Cal is, yet again, about to embarass himself most likely. Not because he fires Caserio, quite frankly I don't care, but because if he wants to sweep him out he should just do it.
My guess - strictly a guess - is that McNair is going to ask the head coach if he can/wants to work with Caserio. If the answer is no, Caserio will be jettisoned.
That doesn't sound like a good process to use if you have a GM that you think is worth a damn. So either Cal is a moron and doesn't know how to run a good process OR he doesn't have faith in Caserio but will only fire him if a coaching candidate tells him to?
I guess the other scenario is Cal might want to hire a black coach, say Demeco Ryans, but has reason to believe that that won't happen with Caserio at the helm because of the racism angle associated with the firing of Lovie and Culley.
Highly likely. But if Caserio is, indeed, interfering with the head coach... I don't have any issues with the new coach - assuming he's not a moron - drawing a line. I have always believed Caserio was part of the problem, in myriad ways.
I have no opinion at all on Caserio at this point, but if you are right and Cal thinks that...why does he need a candidate to tell him? Just fire him.
Is the Pope Catholic? Hell YES they're going to screw this up. Nick already knows who he wants to hire. And I don't buy the BS narrative being broadcast on 610 today - that Cal and Hanna want Demeco (they're really laying it on thick). That's just smoke and mirrors for the fanbase (what little of it is left). Demeco would be a fool to take this job unless he gets a huge guaranteed amount of $$$ to be their 3rd scapegoat. This really hacks me off because these bozos have forced me to agree with Stephen A. Smith for once.
