https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/next-texans-head-coach-and-gm.307636/page-140#post-14451337 (Continued…) … You hired 2 coaches who never had a shot to be successful. They’re not here but you are. How do you answer that? That’s fair. Only thing I can do is show up every day and do the best to my ability. Grateful for the opportunity to be afforded here. If whoever we hire doesn’t feel my role or position I’m in is appropriate, I understand that and accept that. … What is important (in a HC) Leadership position, leadership, prioritize players, create a vision for the players, create a mission for the building, work in collaboration with the ownership group, the business ops group, football group, no one size fits all. … You talked about the process and ignoring people. Why was that? How involved was Easterby in the previous search(es)? You’ve also mentioned like 5 times “If I’m not the guy, I’m done.” Do you fear for your job? In the end, it’s about accountability. No one is happy with where we are. I’m gonna work my ass off like I’ve done since I’ve walked in the building. That’s my commitment. As far as process, it’s not about an individual. It’s utilizing the resources we have available that maybe we didn’t have prior. … You stated a lot of word salad. This is a trifecta. I wouldn’t go to Las Vegas with you. I’ve never gambled in my life. Only thing I can say, I’m doing the best I can for the organization. We’re disappointed with where we are. My responsibility and job is to evaluate everything from a football operation standpoint. Have we gotten everything right? No. … There are players who want to be here. They believe in what we’re trying to create. I believe we’re moving in the right direction. We have a lot of work ahead of us. I’m gonna be here as long as I can to see it through.
Caserio should be gone simply for giving Cooks all that money...I wonder who lied to Cook's and told him that he was good enough to be demanding anything...
"Demeco, yeah, you are an up and comer coach on a stud team. Hold out for the best situation." Sincerely, Eric Bieniemy (6 years ago)
Just seeing this picture.....it just doesn't make any damn sense what the hell Cal is doing with this franchise. It looks like Nick got caught with his pants down around his ankles on how he's been GM'ing this franchise. All the **** the media, Houston fans, and NFL fans have been saying about us for a long time....it's like Calvin the dumb **** lives under a rock.
“Smith’s hiring was presented as a celebration. The fire alarm intruded with a palpable warning. McNair and Caserio passed Smith off as the candidate of their choice. But days before, the Texans were poised to hire Josh McCown, an unexperienced former journeyman quarterback they pivoted away from after finalist Brian Flores filed a racial-discrimination lawsuit against the NFL.”
Break the fukin checkbook out you fukin biscuit. That’s the only way you’re getting a top teir coach for this shitshow org. We’re going to need a Gruden type deal to get a big name here and caserio needs to share the power or get bounced too.
They supposedly were also trying to get other teams to interview McCown in order to make their hiring him appear more legitimate. Now, and this is just my opinion but I firmly believe that if McCown had been the hire and not Lovie, he wouldn't have been a one and done like Culley and Lovie. I sincerely hope that Demeco turns down their token interview request to satisfy the Rooney Rule. He's worked too hard to become fall guy #3.
Is Andy Reid calling the defensive plays at San Fran as well? And Houston isn’t even the best situation this off-season. He will get plenty of interviews.
100% Had they hired McCown instead of Culley, they would be going into McCown’s third season as HC….guaranteed.
Caserio picked Culley and was about to sign McCown before he settled on Lovie. If it doesn't work out with Cals input we'll know there's no hope for the Texans with Cal as the owner.
Disagree here. From Caserio’s presser today: Who decides the next head coach? In the end, it’ll be my recommendation to ownership. Cal/Hannah own the team. … In the end, the owner has the trump card. Caserio from day one has talked about collaborating, alignment, blah blah blah…This is the first time he is saying Cal makes the final call. I don’t think he throws in that last bit unless he experienced it first hand.
