His shot making reminds me of Kyrie when he is on, obviously he can rebound and pass the rock.... KPJ comparisons are harder to pinpoint, I don't think he is a discount Harden at all but he is a triple threat for sure.
He's a far more athletically gifted human who also is bigger. Look I get it. This is the worst time for someone to defend Green. He's having the worst stretch of his short career so far. But I'm sure some Atlanta fans were saying the same thing about Trae in the first half of his sophomore year where he was really inefficient.
Thing is, Trae was never this inefficient. Second year Trae was putting up 29.6 ppg , 9.3 assists per game on almost 60 percent true shooting with a 24 PER and much higher win shares. Even his rookie year , where he started off struggling, he was far more efficient than Jalen is now. If Green was putting up stats anywhere like that, even without the assists, we'd be annointing him the next Kobe. No matter how you look at it, whether the eye test or advanced stats, I don't see Jalen ever being as good as Trae. As good as Beal or LaVine, sure, I can see that. But Trae is another level up from that already.
So Stevie came to the league as a #2 pick, instantly became the best player on the team and led us to 34 wins in Year 1 (6.4 WS) and 45 wins in Year 2 (12.2 WS!), before hurting his shoulder in year 3, in which he played through the injury in complete amazement to the surgeons. He was criticized from Day 1 for not playing as a true PG, but he was producing as a Franchise-level prospect, like the Morant-s, the Luka-s, the Zion-s, etc. Jalen Green is not producing anywhere near that level yet. He’s younger than Stevie was, and the physical talent is self-evident, but right now having Green play like Stevie would be actually a huge, huge UPGRADE, if anything. KPJ like Cat was drafted late, and even though he was 2 years older than Stevie, was the clear #2 in the duo. Here the dynamics is the reverse: the late pick, less-celebrated prospect is the alpha/head-honcho, and the top pick is the beta. Also KPJ got Stevie’s number #3 and is playing nominally PG. But I don’t think anyone in the organization considers him the future Franchise.
If you have to choose between the two then I feel Green should be traded. He reminds me of Monte Ellis. Really good player but I don't think he'll be that star that will put a team on his back and win a championship . I could be wrong, he's still young. I think KPJ is a better overall player.
What is your best possible case scenario for Jalen defensively? He legit looks like the worst guard in the league defensively, and must surely be the worst p'n'r defender in the NBA. Trae at least brings consistent offence, and the ability to control an offence. I can't see why Atlanta would entertain the idea - but we would be insane to pass on a KPjr and Green for Trae trade.
Why wasn’t Mobley an all star then? Such a ridiculous take. Even if we pretend your point is true, that’s still 1 more appearance than our entire team combined.
Y’all arguing over which bum is better than the next. I’m willing to throw the entire team away. I’m not attached to any of these scrubs.
That’s irrelevant. When did MJ enter the league? I know it’s tough being a rockets fan right now and you’re holding on to any hopium you can, but you will only end up disappointing yourself
You’re assuming just because they (Green/KPJ) are young that somehow means they will project to become better players than someone who was equally or more gifted who entered the league at a later age (Francis). Guess everyone gave up on Darko too soon because Yao entered the league 3 years later than him and became a competent player. Same with Hasheem etc. Your hopium is completely unfounded dude.
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/most-points-per-game-average-by-a-20-year-old-in-the-nba#:~:text=LeBron James has put up,player, with 29.3 per game. Where is Darko on this list? Yes you are an idiot to compare this situation to Darko. Francis would be a headless chicken at 20 surrounded by a bunch of other 20 year olds.
