Maybe you should study our history a little more before you’re hurling out insults. This is the way our Republic supposed to function with healthy dissent and debates for the will of the people. I take it, you’re a big fan of the one party ruler, so go ahead on with your head burying deep in the bowels of the establishment. Ain’t nothing wrong with that if it makes you feel better about yourself.

What drives the force of progress is communication. More than ever the share of technology and ideas propelled innovation the last 100 years or so.

Sure and most of those people applying for patents are doing so because they want money and credit for what they are doing. Just like Imhotep (the architect of the earliest pyramids) is remembered by history and was even worshipped at one point.

If you aren't motivated by greed or ego there is no reason to file for a patent.

Sure people build off of others that doesn't mean they don't have ego and/or greed. As stated Imhotep was deified, James Watt certainly wanted the credit for the steam engine. Jonas Salk is frequently cited for his selflessness yet he still set up an institution with his name and one of the greatest architects of his time (Louis Kahn another guy with a big ego) to design it.

Yes there are a lot of people who's names aren't remembered and don't get the credit they deserve. That doesn't mean they were driven by selflessness. Curiousity is certainly a motivator but that doesn't mean that most scientist don't want credit and recognition for their research. There wouldn't be so much competition and rivalry among scientist to publish first if they didn't feel that way.

Just to add while Newton acknowledged he stood on the shoulders of giants he certainly had a big ego. He had a big rivalry with Liebniz on who invented calculus. This led to the Royal Society in UK to favor Newon over Liebniz, which Newton happened to be chair of, on the dispute.

As a non gamer I'm sorry but I don't have enough time or interest to watch the whole video. If the point is there are a lot of people who don't get the credit they deserve I agree. That doesn't mean that they weren't motivated by greed or ego.

There are certainly people who aren't motivated by greed or ego and are truly selfless. I don't think that reflects most people and certainly not most people involved in artistic, engineering, science or other type endeavors.

I'm sure they will have a lot of meaningful investigations of Hunter Biden, Dr. Fauci, and the rest of the Biden Administration. ;)

Im surprised that mccarthy is giving up so much of his powers pandering to the terrorist group, is it even worth it in the long run?

I don't see many of the key figures involved in this mess having an eye to the "long run" -- it seems much more about "will I be trending online tonight or at least trending more than other idiots."

In McCarthy's mind it must be. I think he's built up his identity towards being Speaker of the House. At this point I think just having the title for him is as good as whether he has any actual power. He might also think once he has the title he can manipulate things to getting more power.

Again. The will of the people was displayed in November. The people chose these Representatives. (Let's not even get into gerrymandering). Now you have a tiny minority blocking the actual will of the people. You have an idiot who took 4 shots at a GED before she could pass; who won her election by .2% , blocking the will of the people. This is not a "will of the people" issue. It is a "will of the lunatic fringe" issue.

100% agree with this. I would bet there is an information theory way to model connectedness and progress.

But why do we need billions of people sharing ideas when a few motivated geniuses can single handedly progress society. Who is John Galt?

I don't think anyone has said this isn't how it's supposed to function. What's not supposed to happen is the speaker giving away all they're power just to be named speaker. This idiotic rule allowing just 1 rep to basically stop government by saying they don't like the speaker's necktie is going to be a disaster. Any bipartisan legislation is going to get completely stalled by Bobert The Clown just by saying she wants a new speaker. This is insanity at it's finest. It's not democracy. This is the will of the stupid.

Not sure why you singled out Boebert, I guess she’s an easy target, but there are 19 others that do not want McCarthy as speaker!

19 others!!!! So less than 10% of the GOP contingent. Got it. Yep. That's the will of the people. I singled out Boebert because she is the one going all over the news media. I could single out Gaetz, but he won't matter after 4 more rounds. He will abstain. He doesn't do anything over 17
