I know this sounds silly, but hear me out....

    1. Many here believe that Pikes poor performance was simply an aberration due to his injury and that he will return to his old form of being a career 40% 3 pt shooter. Pike is also known as one fo the most efficient players in that he only averages .9 TOs in his career albeit in somewhat limited minutes.

    2. Since we have TMAC, many believe that all we need is the Paxson type PG that can make wide opened jump shots while TMAC will split some of the PG responsibilities.

If these 2 thesis is accurate, then Pike may equal Paxson and we will have this eras Jordan-Paxson backcourt in TMAC-Pike.

    Thoughts?

If we went that route, Jimmy Jackson would be my bet.

But this kinda getting ridiculous. If we can't acquire a PG somehow its NOT the end of the world. Lue is by no means my dream PG for this team but he would be better at the point than Pike, JJ, Spoon or whoever else you want to pencil in there.

I seriously doubt it. TMAC has 5 times better ball handling skills than Pike. Boki can take the ball up the court pretty good for a SF, but the Rockets need to just sign a starting PG who can do the little things like this.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. The only reason Pike's TO numbers are so low is that he's a catch and shoot player and NEVER handles the ball. It's like saying Weatherspoon should be leading our fast breaks. Pike needs to be worrying about things other than assists and ball-handling, like making open shots, which he was paid to do, getting some sort of decent conditioning, and learning to make his layups.

Yes the answer to our PG is a combo of Pike/YAO.

    How about Fred Hoiberg?
he was awesome in the WC Finals vs LA
and even played some PG when Cassell and Hudson were injured.

Maybe Lou can play some backup center too? ;)

I get what you're saying. It would be great to have someone with some range out there in the starting linup play alongside T-Yao but from what I can tell everytime Pike puts the ball on the floor it looks like hes trying to dribble a volleyball. He looks uncomfortable putting the ball on the floor at times and has turned the ball over as a result. Tmac will probably dominate the ball more than our one guard either way but Pike would have a hell of a time keeping up with the elite guards in the league. And we have to remember Pike can't even defend folks at his own position.

piatkowski does not have adequate pg skills. I think they should go after damon jones and platoon lue & jones together.

I don't think Pike can be the PG. Maybe he can bring the ball up at times, but he is not the ballhandler Barry is, for example. I think Jimmy Jackson is probably better suited to fill more time in that role.

Garnett played the point in the playoffs this year. Why can't Yao?

In theory... I agree with the idea.

Pike is long, doesn't panic with the ball, is a smart ball player, and is not turnover prone. He is similar to Barry in that regards. The only difference between the two is that Barry has experience at the point where as Pike does not.

The idea has merit. I would consider Boki first since he is similar to Pike with a bit more juice in him.

The only problem I see (other than those guys trying to guard smaller, quicker guards) is dealing with on the ball pressure while bringing it up. That would place JJ and TMac in more of a position to handle the ball up court... which would work... but in the long run would wear those guys down and cause us a bit longer to set up our offense.

That said... never hurts to think outside of the box. Interesting idea.
