Crenshaw is correct and this shows how confused the message is from the holdouts. If they are for specific issues then they need to articulate them and come to the table for negotiations. Crenshaw though himself has a lot to blame about this situation. While he's frequently portrayed himself as being a more thoughtful Republican interested in getting things done he's also supported and defended many of those in his own party that are now causing him so many problems.

Crenshaw and especially McCarthy supported and enabled those in the party who have turned on them. This was inevitable. As Crenshaw noted these people never had a plan. They never had a plan about anything, they had a lot of platitudes, soundbitesthat got a lot of attention, and were far more about "owning the libs" than anything else. They are what Shakespeare called "Sound and fury signifying nothing.."

Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw blasts anti-McCarthy Republicans: ‘tired of your stupid platitudes’
House Republicans flailed through a second day of fruitless balloting, unable to elect McCarthy as House Speaker or come up with a new strategy
Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, on Wednesday blasted his Republican colleagues who are refusing to support Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker.

"I’m tired of your stupid platitudes that some consultant told you to say on the campaign trail, alright," Crenshaw said of the 20 Republican defectors, according to the Washington Post’s Dylan Wells. "Behind closed doors tell us what you actually want, or shut the f--- up."

Crenshaw’s fiery comments come as House Republicans flailed through a second day of fruitless balloting, unable to elect McCarthy as House Speaker or come up with a new strategy.

The ballots were producing almost the same outcome: 20 conservative holdouts still refusing to support him, and leaving him far short of the 218 typically needed to win the gavel.

Crenshaw said the holdouts, "need to be men and adults and say what they want, instead of playing these little games, that’s what we’re asking."

"That’s what I’ve asked of them. Some of them are my friends. Stop saying platitudes like, ‘Washington is broken. We can’t do the status quo," he said. "They want to pull the pins on the grenades and lock the doors."

McCarthy, the California Republican, vowed to fight to the finish for the speaker's job despite the grueling spectacle, unlike any in modern times, that threw the new majority into tumult for the first days of the new Congress.

Crenshaw accused the holdouts of showing themselves to be "unbelievably serious" and not having a plan.

"It’s almost like they want to make the point that they don’t have a plan," he said. "They have zero ability to articulate what they want that would cause them to vote yes. It is utterly confusing, and then they get mad at us for criticizing, it’s actually quite hilarious the self-victimization that occurs."

Crenshaw said he was willing to "hold out forever" noting that McCarthy would have to resign from Congress for him to consider an alternative.

"but I’ll tell you what, whoever that 20 wants, I will never vote for that person," he said. "I do not care who it is. They want to play this game, we’ll play the game."

I do agree with the Crenshaw article above, the Never Kevin`s talk about what's wrong and never about how they can or would fix anything................its all-sound bites all the time

Matt Gaetz voted for Trump to be Speaker of the House. LMAO. A lying self-serving psychopath is perfectly fit to speak for those right wingers.

It's crazy that Kevin is making more concessions and keeps looking like an idiot not having the votes he needs.

The only difference between someone like Pelosi and McCarthy in terms of morality is that Pelosi has the baseline dignity to not pander to fascists.

That's it. Both are equally as opportunistic when it comes to grifting.

Who is to say they would be beholden to any promises they make?

Also, no speaker has the power to make those promises, they cannot make the other Republicans vote the way they want.

Now with that said if enough Republicans want to end the foolishness they would only need a speaker and about 25 Republicans who would vote with them on most stuff to take all the power from the crazies and I think we may be reaching that point and the Democrats would look like the adults in the room for a long time.

If no one trusts his lying ass, then he actually has more incentive not to follow through.

This might actually be what it takes for the mainstream Republicans to deal with the "mentally ill" caucus. It's all fun and games when their crazy firehose points at the Dems, but when they unleash it on the Republican leadership? Could that cross a line?

Man just when I think you can't be more miserable.

So would you trade all the legislation that Pelosi has gotten passed for just having a figurehead that does not grift?

What the hell does morality have to do with good governance anyway?

I'm glad you are least bought into my premise rather than saying Pelosi isn't a grifter.

I guess this statement tells me we just have very basic fundamental differences in ideology on how government should be run.

And yes I would trade Pelosi in a heart beat for a sincere non grifter who's only goal is to serve the people and be content with a middle class lifestyle

Except McCarthy already agreed to those things a while back. The Never-Kevins keep changing their demands.

So you would rather not have the ACA and everything Biden has gotten through this last 2 years if only a non grifter was the speaker?

You would rather the Republicans had run roughshod over the house the last 8 years as long as there was a non grifter heading the Democrats?

You can't serve the people if you can't get **** done this idealism does not work in the real world and shows you just want to be pissed off about something and are virtue signalling.

Why do you care so much about the wealth they have accumulated?

Now, do you want to talk about the things she has accomplished to help the American people?

It seems you think the act of wealth accumulation is evil in itself and anybody that has it must be evil, that's why you are always wanting a revolution as if that would make anything better.
