I hear this a lot. So the Rockets have had the worst (or close to it) record in the NBA the last 3-4 years. The Rockets lack a franchise player. The Rockets have an owner that is poorly thought of and didn’t go over the tax with a title worthy team. The Rockets GM is not proven and the HC is bad. No player worthy of close to the maximum salary will want anything to do with the Rockets. The only way the Rockets sign anyone is to overpay and enter into poor long term contracts. The last time the Rockets had this kind of money, they were vastly better than this Rockets team, with a better GM and ended up with Gordon and Anderson. The reality is that the Rockets would be extraordinarily lucky to get Zach LeVine. The Rockets will likely have to pick through losers like Christian Wood, D’Angelo Russell, Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Clarkson. Perhaps they can sign Kyrie Irving to an absolutely max contract.
refuse to watch another game with this loser on the court calls out the coach/franchise coach says he's not happy with what he said/how he did it gets rewarded with 34 mins lmao im so done meanwhile 4 first round picks drafted within the last 2 years played 15 mins or less(gup with 0)
The Rockets haven’t been in a position with this many under 22 and under players ever - so you can’t compare when we got Gordon and Anderson. To compare you would need to look at other teams with majority 1-2 year players and their records. Tilman is hoping to hit a jackpot in draft and is willing to suck until he hits it. Stone wants to set his legacy because he’s in Morey shadow - so you will have to deal with KPJ (his Harden) Nix (his he’s a lottery talent) Silas is the scapegoat - was brought in to coach vets, and now has been told to develop a team of kids….with priority on developing and securing top 3 pick
I have to believe that stone is holding out for using the cap space to either sign back Harden, or help other teams get the free agents they want and receiving a large pick haul as reward. Think of the knicks with fornier, the heat may have someone they want, ect. But at this point in the season, we are at a "sell low" stage. Teams are still trying to make it work with the guys they signed last offseason, and have no interest in giving up picks to dump their financial miscalculations. And until Harden signs that extension with the sixers, Houston is going to "maintain flexibility."
I think you missed the point of his post. I doubt this is the case. Rockets don't own their pick next draft. If they land top 10 in 2025 they can keep their pick, but then don't have another pick of their own until 2028. If Stone was THAT attached to players like that, my guess is he'd have held on to Wood. Also with the way he structured KPJ's contract he's clearly not tied to him either. And Nix isn't even in the rotation anymore. Silas coached a team of mostly vets his first year here and still ended up with the worst record in the league. Even when Harden was here for those first 8 games he was actually playing well for the most part....The team still looked like trash and he ended up coaching the worst team in the league. ...Last season he had a mix of Vets and young guys. Gordon, Wood, Schroeder, Theis, House, Augustin...He still ended up coaching the worst team in the league... This year he's got a bunch of young guys with Gordon the only seasoned vet getting PT....Still coaching a bottom 3 team...
I didn’t miss the point of his post Tilman has said in multiple interviews what the Rockets plans are .. I said nothing about next year - we all know it’s only top 4 protected we are talking about this year Stone wasn’t keeping Wood because he’s not a MAX player .. he would of hurt their plans of having 2 max slots .. KPJ getting a new contract = Stone hoping he flips into Harden JR. Silas is more happy about KPJ improvements off the court Nix was getting all the playing time over TyTy because Stone wanted that… Silas wanted JC as backup PG but he wants to be Kobe lite
Good counter point with data points. I'd be curious to see comparisons to similar players who DIDN'T pan out also, but I see your point. Perhaps my fandom is irrationally hoping for something even better than Beal or Lavine because they're probably not a #1 on a championship contender.
Basically what I said about playing all the first round picks all the minutes plus the other young players like KPJ/KMart who already get quality PT There is no way you go all out rebuild and have like 7 first round picks and only focus on 3 of them, Christopher n Ty should be the backups with sometimes with the starting backcourt in certain small ball lineups I know Tari n Garuba gets minutes but they should be getting more as well, on defensive/hustle prowess alone
Immediately after saying this, there was some improvement. Lasted two quarters, but still g o o d j o b
Silas heard Eric Gordon basically calling out the most iso player on the team what does he do? Gives Gordon 30 mins to appease him and kpj 42 mins the next game.
