    BIASED VOTE AHEAD:

Kiki Vandeweghe. Turned the worst team in the league into a possible contender in 2 years.

BTW, with all of the CD hating that goes on on this board, how is he on the list?

I think the Gm for the Spurs/Nuggets did a great job but Joe Dumars had a vision and was also very fiscally responsible.

He built that Pistons team from scratch no lucky draft pick...

The Spurs were lucky to get Duncan - he brings in quality FA's.
The Nuggets stunk until this year (and lucked out with Melo)

Pistons didnt do well in the draft.. (cept Prince) but the GM built that team.. finding pieces that fit together.

alot of that depends on the type of leadership..

BWallace / RIP/ Billups... they seem like no nonsense blue collar guys.

The type of guys you would want leading your team.

Possible contender? Does that mean they are contending to be a contender?

    I voted for Rod Thorn:

Jerry West has been amazing and would also be a great choice but I'm still not 100% sold on what he's doing in Memphis. He's made them respectable but I don't see how they'll ever be a Championship contender the way they're going. But then admittably I didn't think the Pistons stood a chance in hell last year either.

Joe Dumars seems to be doing an incredible job. The only questionable move I can think of since he's taken over is the Darko pick and the jury is still out on that.

Kiki Vandeweghe should be on this list. He's doing a fantastic job with the Nuggets. If Carmelo stays healthy and lives up to his potential that team could very well be a championship contender one day. The only questionable move I can think of he made so far is giving Camby a big deal this year. Otherwise he's made excellent decisions and really turned that franchise around.

Is Popovich the Spurs GM too? I didn't even realize that. The Spurs never really make any drastic moves but they seem to NEVER make dumb moves. Even the moves they make that don't work out for the best (like Hedo last year) made perfect sense and should have worked out. They consistently make solid moves and never seem to over-pay with the exception of Malik Rose and now possibly Ginobilli.

O'Connor in Utah is also doing a great job. They draft well, trade well and have done a great job of signing free agents this year. I think he may very well have done the best job this offseason so far.

I could probably make a legitimate case for any of those guys.

    Spurs' GM is RC Buford.

I'd go with Thorn. Even though players coming back from injury was the REAL reason the Nets bounced back following the Marbury/Kidd trade, he's done a solid job everywhere he's been.

KiKi should be on the list. Big apologies. That was a blown call.

thank you! not that kidd isn't better to have but kmart looked a lot better with kidd than marbury because his leg stopped being broken. and kittles was healthy for the first time in forever. i wanna say even kvh came back from injuries but maybe he just sucked the year before.

Rod Thorn is better at being a GM more than he ever was as Director of b-ball operations for the NBA.
