You might be onto something. Although a great point guard would be nice, we basically need someone who isn't gonna try and do too much. Get the ball to Yao and T-Mac (the latter will get 6 or 7 assists of his own, anyway). Marko Jaric fits most of the criteria. Hits the outside shot well (not so good on the midrange), 5 assists to 2.0 turnovers, 1.6 steals. Hmn. Might be had for a draft pick? Eisley, McInnis, and Williams are either too old or overpaid. Daniels? Be nice, but I'm not holding my breath. Jaric. Hmmmmmn. Except that he was only healthy for 58 games (anyone can get injured, though). ARRRRGH! I've got the off-season blues. Yeah, we got T-Mac, but we're not done. ARGH!
Alas! You are also correct. And Sam I Am is not "relatively young." I forgot that one sticking point.
1. I don't think so. 2. He has connections that know and has given some pretty good info in the past (sometimes his rumors are spot on other times, not). Welcome to the board.
The board Gene Peterson is probably not the "real" Gene. Everybody uses a pen name. I was very disappointed to find out that I am not the real Les Alexander. Doc Rocket can be very "deep" but I don't think anybody wants to examine his tonsils. Keep reading. Like any soap opera, after a while it kinda sorta makes sense. Welcome to Chaos.
I think Ward would be good. He used to play for VanGundy, he's not a ball hog, and he can hit the three. Also, he's a solid defender and he's likely #3 on the list for the Spurs behind Parker and Barry. Only drawback is he's old.
Remember guys, we do not need a big name pg. We have people that can score with the ball (T-Mac, Yao, Mo, Howard and JJ). We need someone with low To's a good assist-turnover ratio. He should play D for our coach. He is able to run the pick and row and hit the open jumper. There are several people that can fit the role and share minutes with Lue.
not that it matters at this point, but i get the trade implications (we just seem to be misunderstanding each other). dollar for dollar has to come back in but you only get to count 50% of it going out, meaning you either have to make a trade so huge that the 115% rule swallows up the BYC difference or you have to get a team with capspace or a TE (us) involved to make up the difference. i simply didn't get why you said "clear" $4.7m instead of "trade" $4.7m as i thought you were trying to imply that if GS had enough capspace it would make the BYC problems go away but it's clear now you simply meant trade an extra $4.7m to another team as is the usual byc procedure. all in a day's work talking about the CBA.
It is posts like these that make me realize there are still a couple of people on this board who can actually gauge talent and value. Arroyo is exactly the type of player we should have pursued, and I wouldn't have hesitated signing him for five years at 25-30 mil. Young, quick, pass-first, good defense, good shot selection.... just not a freak talent that catches peoples eyes. NVE has made some awesome shots and can put up points, but his playing style dominates his team and we don't want that with TMac and Yao. DFish at 37 mill is the funniest contract of the offseason. He is a good role player, but 6-7 mill a season is just funny. Thank The Lord it wasn't us. There is plenty of young PG talent out there for the Rockets to get at a great value instead of blowing money on an aging has been. NVE is past his prime, DFish is towards the end of it. We don't need these players old knees. Why do you think Dallas let Nash go?
This was just on the live chat on ESPN: Andrew (Austin, TX): Who is left on the market that can fill the holes in the Rockets' roster? Who do you see them actively pursuing? David Aldridge: (4:27 PM ET ) They're looking at Damon Jones for a point guard position, from what I hear. I don't know if it's a starting spot, but I could see him in a three-guard rotation.
Warriors confirm deal for Fisher July 16, 2004 OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Point guard Derek Fisher finalized a six-year, $37 million contract with the Golden State Warriors on Friday, leaving the Los Angeles Lakers for a team that hasn't made the playoffs in 10 years. The Associated Press and ESPN first reported the deal Thursday. Golden State said it will introduce Fisher at a news conference Monday. The Warriors used their mid-level salary-cap exemption on Fisher despite already having point guards Nick Van Exel and Speedy Claxton under contract. ADVERTISEMENT Fisher averaged 7.4 points per game in his eight seasons with the Lakers. He won three championships with Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, but was relegated to the bench last season when the Lakers signed Gary Payton. Fisher wanted more playing time next season, and it probably wasn't available in Los Angeles. A day after Payton exercised his $5.4 million option for next season on June 22, Fisher opted out of the final two years of his deal with the Lakers. Fisher, who turns 30 next month, would have made $3 million in Los Angeles in each of the next two seasons. Miami, Houston and Seattle also pursued Fisher. Even Bryant's return to the Lakers didn't sway Fisher, one of Bryant's closest friends on the team. Bryant agreed to a seven-year deal worth more than $136 million Thursday.
Larry Hughes averaged .354% from the 3pt line. He is in the middle of nowhere, Washington Wizards and he was the #8 pick in the 1998 draft. He is relatively young at 25. I hope we do better than this.
Who the , what the, ummm, I am speechless about all the point guards slipping out of our grasp. But as much as I would have like the Fish, He ain't worth that much.
What about Jamal Crawford? He would certainly come out of NOWHERE since we all have pretty much only talked about getting Hinrich from the Bulls. Not sure what the Rockets could give for him and if the TE is enough.
