The GOPs had previously concocted the "alternate electors" sleight-of-hand, now they have concocted an "alernate" Jan 6 report.

The problem(s) with the House Republicans’ ‘alternate’ Jan. 6 report

Republicans had a year and a half to come up with a pro-Trump report about Jan. 6.
Evidently, the GOP just couldn't come up with much.

The Republican quintet — Reps. Jim Banks of Indiana, Rodney Davis of Illinois, Jim Jordan of Ohio, Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota, and Troy Nehls of Texas — continued to take an interest in the Jan 6 investigation,
despite watching it unfold from afar, and yesterday the group even took the unusual step of releasing a report.

As these Republicans see it, Donald Trump bore no responsibility at all for the insurrectionist riot. They also blamed Democratic leadership’s concerns over ‘optics’ of calling the National Guard to the Capitol for a delay in their arrival.
However, the report cited no evidence for that claim.

As for the former president’s claim that he wanted to deploy thousands of troops to protect the Capitol — a defense Trump has pushed repeatedly for months — the five Republicans responsible for this report
didn’t bother to even mention it in their document. That’s how foolish the argument is.

Funny how so many of them asked for pardons. It's like the mob making their own version of a report to dismiss the crimes their mob boss instigated, and they took part in.

I read the executive summary. Nothing very interesting there. I was hoping they would have some good analysis on CP underneath the partisan propaganda, but they're focused on trying to make it Pelosi's fault.

Troy Nehls was accepted on the committee by Pelosi before McCarthy withdrew him and 2 others who were also accepted. Pelosi would not accept Jim Jordan (a potential witness) and another congressman. She gave McCarthy an opportunity to replace those 2 and he refused.

So....Nehls and others blew their chance to serve on the committee

Was Pelosi a potential witness or no involvement?

I thought you were implying that jordan was not approved by pelosi because he was a potential witness. So I asked if pelosi was a potential witness.

I have no idea if she was a potential witness, but considering Pelosi wasn't going to be on the committee it seems to be moot.

Do you want citizens to get angry at their real issues like how their rental owners are jacking up their monthly rent prices due to a nation wide price fixing colluding operation that should be illegal?

Viva la revolution baby! Down with the landlords!

Oh you don't want to actually discuss real issues. Scary Mexicans isn't a real issue.

I’ll just repeat it again. Nancy Pelosi cannot order the National Guard. She doesn’t have that authority.

The President is the Commander and chief. The speaker of the house can ask the President to call on the military not the other way around.

It's interesting how 6 months prior to his coup Trump called on governors to use their National Guard military police units to "dominate the streets" and threatened to deploy the active duty military if governors failed to use the National Guard more forcefully.

H even said he might invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act, which permits a president to deploy military inside the U.S. to deal with civil disorder. When that insurrection was his own doing though he just sat for hours watching it on his TV.

I don't put it beyond MTG that she just doesn't understand how the Constitution works or chain of command. It's that so many others who should know better are continuing to peddle this line that it's really Pelosi's fault that she didn't call out the national guard or prepare the Capitol PD better.

The first is she doesn't have that authority and as others have noted the Capitol PD is insufficient for that task. Also again an odd argument that Pelosi deliberately wanted her and her staff lives threatened to try to overturn the election that benefited her party.
