Golf practice in the backyard with a (Skytrak) launch monitor and a net?

    Is anyone doing this?

A friend got me onto the idea and now (as usual) I am obsessed. Just ordered this thing called Skytrak Launch Monitor and a practice net and a practice mat...and some foam balls because I am worried about the neighbors getting annoyed with hearing golf shots all the time, and these are presumably a lot more quiet.

I was originally going for the expensive setup with Net Return Pro Series Net and Pro Turf Mat, but then decided to buy a cheaper mat and net, which are presumably easier to set up and pack up again as well.

The reason I bought this is partly because I also just bought our children their first golf clubs and I thought it could be a good way to just get into it a bit in the garden.

I first started playing golf like 30 years ago, but never played much, most years only 1-2 times a year, so I am still terrible, and would actually be embarrassed to go on a golf course. Never have enough time, etc., so I thought this could be a way to practice without any initial time investment.

P.S.: I don't really have enough space indoors or in the garage, otherwise I would have probably gone for a full simulator setup...like this:

looks dope af. i want one.

a friend of mine has one for indoors and he goes on the treadmill to simulate the unnecessary walks between shots.

ive gone to several golf courses and turns out hitting the balls out in the field is almost nothing like in the controlled environment that is the driving range. but at least i looked dope in my super decked out gear (with my old handmedown sticks from the 90s)

I watched Caddyshack on X-mas eve while wrapping presents.

This looks really cool and I can see the value if you're a golf enthusiast. I can't find a full package price for the simulator at the bottom of your post, @AroundTheWorld - how much?
