Don't be fooled. The harshest critics of this team & coach are delusional Sengun fans. Most of us understand the expectations. But these Sengunatics here would fire everybody and have Sengun go 1 on 5 every night
The small issue I have with Silas is the rotations seem solely to even divide up minutes. Tyty needs to be running the point with either KPJ or Green playing off the ball
I'm fine not winning games this year... i'm in for the Wemby or Scoot sweepstakes... i'll give this last year to 'the process'... i just wish we didnt look so inept in our losing... lol If we were constantly hammering fundamentals and set plays... and getting mixed results... id say fine, young team, growing pains... but often these guys just look lost... somebody goes all cowboy and makes a couple plays n folks get all excited - i view that as a lack of discipline... we should be doing crap like 3+ passes b4 the first shot attempt - teaching visibility and crisp passing... constant pick n rolls gettin it down to a timing science... etc... i just dont see the culture or team development to this point... i dont think silas is the guy.
Folks that are upset and constantly complaining are the same ones that thought this was a play in team and even better caliber. That’s on them for setting such nonsense expectations you’re looking at a full rebuild. This is what teams look like in that stage for the umpteenth time
Green missing so many threes is pissing me off. He's a shooter drafted number two overall. Anything less than 40% on three pointers should get him the cone of shame.
I would say yes, many individuals here are expecting way too much from this particular team that has 10 rational players that are younger than age 22. --------------------------------- The fan base seems to have 2 factions in which great support leans towards 1) Jalen Green and 2) Sengun. Those two factions want rapid and quick progress from those two players.....placing a target on one Kevin Porter jr. Thought being that if KPj were replaced, Green and Sengun improvement would increase exponentially. I'm on record as saying Green will be the next MJ/Kobe of this lighter leaner NBA age (pre draft). I started then that Green would need to transfer from teenage boy body to man body. Will rule the NBA from age 21 (3rd year) on. Put on about 10 pounds between year one and year two.....another 10 pounds between yr 2 and 3. So far so good. Green put on about 8 pounds in the off-season and he is near that 25 points per game I predicted for this season (21.3 pts). 50 more games to bring that average up 3.7 points. I have Sengun at 14 points....in 28 minutes (preseason): Currently: 14.6 points in 26.7 minutes. KPj I have him (preseason): 20 pts....5.5 rebs....7.8 Ast....57 (TS%).....71% (FT%)....2.7 TOV.....14% (TOV%) Currently: 18.7 pts...5.4 rebs...5.5 Ast....53.1 (TS%)....77.3% (FT%)..3.9 TOV...18% (TOV%) Off: --1.3 pts....--0.1 rebs...--2.3 Ast...--3.7 (TS%)...+6.3% (FT%)...--1.2 TOV....--4 (TOV%) All in all KPj has 50 games to get his stats near where I predicted pre opening night. The only stat I don't think KPj will meet is 22% (USG%).....due to Josh Christopher not progressing and having a greater USG%. Team won't meet that 10th to 12th ORtg and 15th DRtg.....Nix, EG, Mathews have received more minutes than I thought they would. We will see come end of season
My initial search for players who shot 40%+ from 3 on any sort of high volume in their first two seasons came up with two guys, Curry and Thompson. May have missed some.
It’s all relative. If you say you don’t believe Nix is the guy, that’s not an insult, more like a compliment. But for a #2 pick who many have high hopes of being the franchise player, “he’s not the guy” pretty much means he’s doomed. How about you share Green some of the patience you preached for KPJ?
Yes. 85% of the criticisms are from the Sengun idiots. The rest is just not understanding what a rebuild looks like.
I just don’t see the structure needed for growth to happen. The assurance to some has manifested into entitlement of said players. While others can’t get any consistent playing time that was earned.
We fans may be too hard on this young squad but That’s because their coach is not . he’s Charmin soft on them .
Stone laid out the expectations of the team when he was recapping exit interviews at the end of last season. We expected some noticeable improvements all around, improved defense, efficiency on offense, and more wins. He implied quantifiable improvements were expected. What quantifiable improvements have been made? So far, they have not delivered based on these expectations. I would look at their place in the west, and not win loss % improvement, there is some parity in the west that seems unusual, which is why I don't see winning a few more games and still having the worst record as being an improvement.
