I’ve been involved in one of these but it was a friend swinging a golf club driver and hitting the fish tank at the end of his swing. I called it before he swung and then “boom!!!”.

Did they find a Titleist on the scene?

Physicist here says it's sounds stupid to build a deep tank unless you absolutely positively need it and then you'd measure and check the glass on the regular.

At 10 meters down, you basically already have twice an atmosphere of outward pressure. At the bottom of this tank, you'd have about 2.5 atmospheres pressing always outward on the glass, and only 1 atmosphere pushing back.

I mean... could you not have a super duper nifty aquarium but have it just like 20-feet deep?

The Monterey Bay Aquarium has one of the largest in the world, and even then they limited it to 28-feet deep and with only certain viewing areas where you'd have the pressure differential.

Interesting, Professor Buh-bob. I'll have to cross-check that with my German physicist friend. Hey may want to have a lab coat battle with you.

The Scandinavians swooped down and raided again. Those fish are being pickled as we speak.

They unfortunately used acrylic glass instead of safety glass too, which made it much less resilient.

It was actually an American company who built it. Reynolds Polymer. Their subsidiary International Concept Management built the one in Dubai Mall, where a similar accident happened in 2010.

I was friends with a number of Germans in graduate school. I remember this one very frenetic guy teaching a class and he went over to close the blinds and pulled on the cord like a maniac, bringing the whole assembly down loudly, with all the students laughing.

"Ah!" he said. "Shoddy American verkmanship!!" :D

    Applies.

Joke’s on him. All that **** is made in China.

Next you’re going to start ranting about how the Austrians didn’t pay their war reparations.
