Looks like it. Wouldn't be opposed to adding 1 depth starting pitcher. Vasquez as in Christian Vazquez? If so, he's no longer available. He signed with the Twins a couple of days ago. He received a qualifying offer. Is he worth losing a pick? He's also not a big fan of the Astros but not sure if his feelings changed. Then again, money talks. If Houston offered him the best contract, maybe he accepts.
Poll for the class… You’re presented with 2 options: Conforto on a 1+1 player option deal at $20 million per year or Trade one prospect ranked #5-10, 2 lower prospects for Kris Bryant and $38 million in cash, bringing his deal to $120 million over 6 years ($20 million AAV). Which would you pick?
#2 - I would trade Leon, someone ranked 11-25, and Kessinger for Bryant on those terms. There may be some risk but if they're both on, Bryant is the better player. Plus, he can play all 3 OF positions and both IF corners, while Conforto is strictly a LF/DH (if he can even play OF coming off shoulder surgery). Bryant is a very good bat when he's on.
I would take #2 as well, for all the reasons you listed. I’d probably go as high as just $26 million cash ($22 AAV) and Leon, Whitley and 1 other prospect. Speaking of positional versatility: Infielders Abreu Altuve Peña Bregman Bryant* Outfielders Tucker Yordan McCormick Meyers Bryant* Catcher Maldonado Lee Diaz Maybe sign 1 middle infielder. Playoff Lineup: Altuve Peña Yordan Bregman Tucker Abreu Bryant McCormick/Meyers Maldonado/Lee/Diaz
No, this is a very good thing and is something that Sara Goodrum and some of the analytic nerds wanted. The game has gotten very complex when it comes to preparation and interpreting data. Having someone with a background in the game having this specific job is great.
Who are these people? Are they just randos? If so,, why do we pluck these from the twittersphere and post them? I'm truly curious.
Looking for a GM with balls the size of watermelons… and trying to convince Bagwell to cut that thing off his face.
If he leaves Anaheim, it's because he wants to win. Money will be a factor, but it's not the factor. https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2199418
I'd take 2 without blinking but I just don't believe he is really available. I hope he is but their fans would quit with that trade.
Literally every option comes with some warts. I'm OK if the team chooses to play it conservatively and let our prospects have a go, but a lot of people are complaining about not making a move while also complaining about the risks associated.

Just playing the trade game: This is what that game thinks is fair. Astros get: Bryant 3B/OF -104.1 Trejo 2B 0.3 Romo C 31.7 Tovar 2B 52.2 Veen OF 34.4 Total 14.50 Rockies get: Barber OF 3.9 Leon SS/OF 6.5 Melton OF 4.6 Total 15.00 The cost of a bad contract is HUGE.
