"I'm an ELTON JOHN FAN--I celebrate the guy's entire catalogue! For me, it doesn't get any better than when he sings 'I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues'. " --One of the "Bobs" from "Office Space".
That's in Spring Branch, isn't it. No I don't know them. I used to spend a lot of time in Spring Branch though.
1. Tiny Dancer 2. Empty Garden 3. Skyline Pigeon (live) Honorable Mention/Guilty Pleasure: Kiss the Bride - it just makes me really happy.
Actually it's in Memorial. Spring Branch is on the other side of I-40. One of the Helman kids was one of my boyhood friends. They were just a few blocks from that store. He and I used to run up to that shopping center in the mid- to late-60s.
heh...iimagine that.....it wasnt the first album i ever bought...but it was the first Elton album I bought and my fav list matches yours to a "T" except add Bennie and the Jets and Philidelphia Freedom. the fact I really like Elton John is one of those surprises that alot of people dont expect out of me...it just doesnt fit my normal style of music.
Cut to a scene at a heavy metal concert - Rockets2K is walking to his seat when he runs into a "kindred" spirit. Dude: Hey man, great seats for this Kiss concert, eh? Rockets2K: You said it, dude! I am going to be rocking so hard tonight! WOOOOOOO!! Rockets2K: I haven't been this excited about a concert since the time Elton John came to Houston several years back! Dude: Huh? Elton John? What are you doing here? Get away from me, you non-head banger, you!
Tiny Dancer, Rocketman, and Your Song... which is unfair, because there are so many other great tunes. I have eclectic tastes, unlike some people. Bob*, Engelburt Humperdinck??
Good call on "Empty Garden-" one of the best tribute songs to John Lennon. Other favorites_ "Grey Seal" "Tiny Dancer"
Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues Rocketman (Tim, ya'll need to buy the rights to use in Rockets ads) EDIT: And Elton's Greatest Hits was the first album I bought, too (or, actually, had someone buy for me).
