i cant decide which game to pick for this year. on the one hand, espn nfl 2k5 is only 20 bucks this year and i liked the gameplay last year except for the running game (too many broken tackles) and the other hand madden is likely the same and i wish madden brought some features of ncaa 2005 (home field advantage) over to madden which will eager me to play madden more. i just saw videos of espn and they looking very interesting to me for example the tackling and running animations looks just plain realistic and sick. u guys think i should convert from madden to espn?
Since ESPN comes out a few weeks earlier and is 20 bucks, I'll be picking it up this year. But that won't stop me from buying Madden.
I'm getting ESPN Football 2005 this year, I was watching some videos they had on Sportscenter and ESPNews about the game and its incredible! Plus its only $20 this year I've enjoyed all the past Sega Football games on the Dreamcast and PS2 so I kinda know what to expect. Madden games to me always seem the same with new rosters. I think the ESPN game is coming out this Tuesday
I assume a lot of people will get both with the low price of ESPN.I may even check out a used game shop around the time Madden is released and find ESPN for even cheaper than $20.
lol..20 dollars is a pretty good deal..nfl 2k5 is not bad at all..but I still think Madden 2005 will win in sales..
Does anyone have any idea if a similar promotion will be ran for espn basketball 2k4. Because I know I purchased Espn Baseball at 39.99 which was 10 dollars less than EA.
Madden will get the better sales due mostly to the flock of brand loyal sheep out there. ESPN has ALWAYS been the better game with respects to NFL sim.
sheesh...why is it only $20. Is that a limited-time offer? I had no intention of getting either game, but for $20 I might have to rethink that.
I'm part of that flock, my loyalty is not limited to Madden but I am loyal to EA. I buy all my sport games, such as Madden, NCAA, March Madness, etc. from that company as well as other games like Sim City, Command & Conquer, etc. What is better about the ESPN version(s) of sport games?
IMHO, ESPN version is more realistic as far as the game goes. The little things come into play with the ESPN version. If I'm throwing to my 6'7 TE being covered by a 6'1 LB, I can throw a gentle lob over the top and have him get a first down. It's been a couple of versions since I've compared both, but at that point I compared three consecutive versions and ESPN was more of a sim than a video game.
Maybe they realized they're putting out just an upgraded product each year... I'm sure it doesn't take near as much development as the games that retail for the $49.99... and of course, as shown by the posters here alot of people will thrown down $20 for a game thinking "hell, why not," their sales volume should go up so they should be able to afford to sell it for less.
I'm going with ESPN NFL 2K5. I've always thought it was the better game as I started playing it with the first version (NFL2K). I never played last years and wasn't planning on getting either it or Madden this year, but for $20, it's more than worth it. There aren't as many broken tackles in this version, there are new moves, and they totally redid the graphics. I also think the Franchise mode in the ESPN games is better. There are also some other cool features in 2K5. I think it will be the better game, but many people will get Madden just because they are familiar with the name.
One cool thing they added for ESPN this year is the QB moves. You have the ability to duck and side step. On the flip side, you have a level up tackle on the D. So if you play it just right, and have the right situation, you can tackle the ball carrier at his feet, and quickly switch to another close defender, charge up, and tackle him up high, and knock the crap out of him and the ball. Also, this year you should see a lot more injuries. So if you sack the QB hard, he's out! I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it. And RM, I don't think it comes out for GC. Sorry.
always? I didn't know ESPN had a NFL game in 1993 but I've played both ESPN and Madden a lot this past year and I can say without a doubt Madden is the better game is your interested in realism. ESPN has what I like to call, "The NFL BLITZ" factor. You know where James Stewert will break 10 tackles and run 80 yards for a score. How one 98-rated linebacker can blitz every play and sack the QB before you even have time to throw. This type of bogus bs drives me nuts on football games. That is why I like Madden better. Madden gives you better control of your players and plays. Blockers will actually block, a blitz can be adjusted for at the line of scrimmage, you can't just break a couple tackles against a 3-4 D and run 80 yards for a score, etc etc ESPN is NFL BLITZ disguised as a real NFL sim
I'm going with ESPN this year solely for the immense price drop. This is a permanent price drop, from what I've read, to allow Sega (I think that is who makes it) to better compete with Madden. I've always been a loyal Madden follower, but this year I fall for Sega's marketing gimmick.
