Come on dude. This statement alone makes me question whether it's worth debating this with you. Of course they freaking knew who she was.

Lebron James made a few remarks about the situation.

Again, this is purely a factor of Putin only saying yes to one person, Griner. It isn't the state department doing favoritism towards the black lesbian because it satisfies the "woke" crowd. Quite frankly that doesn't really help with elections

Am I the only one that thinks that her sexual orientation and color of her skin put her on top of this admin's release list?

But yeah I haven't seen a one-sided deal like this since the original Harden deal.

Is this a joke? There is an entire ideological media ecosystem that is spamming that narrative as we speak. No you aren't the only one.

It's still a stupid opinion. I don't understand the concept of her being out higher on some make believe lost. The state department probes to see if any prisoners are open for swaps. This is simply Putin being open to a swap for Griner. It's a "get what you can get" mindset.

And Putin probably has his reasons to say yes to Griner.

You literally said that Putin regime didn't know who Griner was.

You understand how these WnBA players even get to Russia right? They are usually sponsored by an oligarch and under their protection. Russian law enforcement is very... discretionary and selective. Hence why Griner felt safe with those vape cartridges. Obviously huge mistake on her part for not reading the geopolitical situation. The fact that she did the same SOP with her vape cartridges traveling in and out of the country and suddenly this was the time she was arrested when Putin just stared invading another sovereign nation....

Ya the regime knew who Griner was. And the regime specifically only said yes to Griner because of these heated back and forths.

Same tactic as the Russian troll farms that spammed divisive content in American social media platforms to create culture wars banter.

For Putin, letting go of Griner is nothing given the amount of social division it will cause in his main rival country.

See you didn't have to be ****ing smug about it (referring to your previous posts that I suddenly can't be taken seriously because of one thing I didn't know). No I did not know how the system works, thanks for teaching me something new (not sarcasm).

It may have put her on top of Russia’s airport search list too.

I wonder if people are over-selling how dangerous this guy with the scary nickname is. If I understood the background correctly, he received a minimum sentence because it was found by a jury that he wouldn’t have sold weapons to FARC (a Colombian guerrilla group that has engaged in terrorism) but for the arranged sting operation. The US has been selling weapons to armed groups throughout the world that have engaged in terrorism too. But this Marxist group is aligned against US geopolitical interests. Maybe I should watch that Nick Cage movie to understand how truly dangerous and monstrous this “Merchant of Death” is.

We lost a bargaining chip, but it’s unclear how valuable that chip was, As for the argument that the optics of the deal make us look “weak”, I think saving an American citizen from an unusually cruel and disproportionate punishment, given the charge, is more important.

100%. Just look at the article below that highlights all the tweets praising Biden and Harris for their endless hard work to free her. This is what they wanted and knew would happen. If it were Paul, there would be no highlighted praise as it would only be conservatives applauding the release. There wouldnt be one word from Lebron, no democratic leaders, no woke activists.

Are you another idiot who thinks the State Department is actively saying no to Whelan rather than the more reasonable possibility.... Putin is simply saying no to Whelan?

How high up your @ss is Biden's fist dude? You are defending this scenario like your precious little liberal life depends on it.

Do you have anything to defend your statements besides just generic insults?

This isn't me caring about the Biden administration. This is me worrying about the massive double standards based on someone being white Marine or a black lesbian in terms of rhetoric like "personal responsibility". Seems like desiring people to be personally responsible only applies to non-white people who weren't Marines.

Interestingly no one came up. I did find this:

Woke (/ˈwoʊk/ WOHK) is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English(AAVE) meaning "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination".

Among American conservatives, woke has come to be used primarily as an insult.[4][29][42]Members of the Republican Party have been increasingly using the term to criticize members of the Democratic Party

So Blacks used it as a badge of anti-racism and now conservatives use it as an insult. Like now how saying Hitler is bad is woke.

Stop using “woke” as a synonym for liberal.

I actually did include an article that is highlighting the praise that Biden is getting now. Its clear as a bell what is going on. You must have been sitting there in the negotiations by the way you come flying in on anyone's post that opposes your beliefs.

It's amazing that you believe people praising Biden on Twitter is evidence that Biden selectively chose Griner over Whelan as if it were a zero sum dilemma.rsrher than Putin merely just having Griner being the only one allowed in negotiations.

I would say family members of Whelan are more credible than people praising Biden on Twitter.

For every praise of the decision on Twitter there are 20 posts b****ing about "wokeness"
