I would feel a lot better about any moves that have, would be made. Too bad the media ran him out of MLB.
Yea as I’ve said several times A five year deal for a guy like Nimmo, who has the perfect skill set for our lineup, is exactly the kind of risky deal that could blow up on you that we have stayed away from I’m fine continuing to stay away from those There really is no end in sight to our “window” as long as we don’t saddle ourselves with a poor contract or two Key to the GM hire is drafting, scouting and development. That part HAS to be great
I wonder how much Profar is going to get? If we got a CF I wouldn’t mind seeing Peralta and Chas as a platoon. That would have some serious upside.
We signed two big time free agents already, why the whining about spending money just to spend it? The Astros are AL favorites as we sit with the flexibility to add to that when the right move presents itself. The goal is to sustain a championship level team for as long as possible.
I wouldn’t mind a Ross Stripling signing Has had success both in the pen and as a starter. Would be a nice depth guy to add in a rotation who doesn’t need an upgrade but could very well need a 7th starter at some point Plus our pitching system/coaches or whatever could turn him into a very strong option
Was he the guy who said he would throw at the Astros hitters if he had a chance? *but didn't when he had a chance with the Jays I think. So all talk
Johnny Cueto would be a nice target. He has history with Dusty. Seems like Yankees will be going after Rodon.
Nimmo is usually a .400 ob% guy. Those are more rare than catchers who can give you roughly a Then your logic is inconsistent.
Korey Lee in AAA this season may very well hit .260 with a .325 ob% and around a .800 ops. That would be more in line with his previous levels in the minors.

So far this offseason has gone GREAT for the Astros. We signed arguably a top 10 bat to be our NUMBER SIX hitter, and we got him on what now appears to be a good deal. Resigned one of the most dominant relievers in baseball last year. Good players are FLEEING the AL for a chance to get to a World Series, because it wasn’t going to happen on this side of the league. Our arch rival just resigned a player on the wrong side of 30 to $40 million a year for 9 years. They now have $100+ million tied up in just 3 players for all eternity. Yeah “they’re the Yankees”, but they’ve already shown caution around paying the upper levels of the tax, and they still don’t have the pitching. We did not sign Contreras to a deal that would have been bad in 2-3 years, preventing us from retaining our own talent, and potentially blocking our up and coming young catchers. It’s ok to be patient. We are already the best team in the league…let the right opportunities come to us.
Inconsistent in what way? Lee is a mediocre prospect that profiles as a backup level MLB catcher. Pena was rated by several scouts with elite tools.
