John Granato shared he's hearing the Red Sox are the favorites to sign Correa (as early as today) for potentially 9 or 10 years on the radio.

Interesting. They will love him there and the yanks will still hate him. Balance to the world.

Seems like a lateral move as far as playoff contention goes. Get that money with no hopes of any rings in the near future. At least it will be 42 degrees on opening day instead of 32.

Boston will be relaxant for many of his 10 years there. Too much history, money and fan support not to see them compete at least 60 or 70% of the time for a playoff spot.

I’m rooting for Correa to the cubs just to see how the showdown with Bellinger goes.

totally agree. You know Correa would love to go to Boston, play with Cora and still get to try to stick it to the Yankees. As you said, Boston will be relevant soon and often.

Only reading Red Sox are in heavy discussions with Bogaerts.

Red Sox are one of the top franchises in the MLB. They will be in contention sooner rather than later.

The discussion is whether Bogaerts will move to the outfield for Correa ;)

Makes sense for Correa. I think that park is his top 5 for his slugging and only a bit outside that for BA/OBP.

The Dodgers are not pursuing shortstop Carlos Correa in part out of concern that a sizable portion of their fan base would not welcome the move. Correa was the most outspoken member of the 2017 Astros club that stole signs illegally during the postseason, and beat the Dodgers in a seven-game World Series.

The distaste Dodgers fans harbor for Correa, is not the only reason the club is reluctant to engage with him — or for that matter, any of the other more expensive players on the free-agent market.

So, where might Correa land? The Twins still want him. The Giants are perhaps the most obvious fit now that they have lost Aaron Judge to the Yankees. But with Xander Bogaerts reportedly close to returning to the Red Sox, the Padres cannot be dismissed.

The Padres tried for Trea Turner, met with Judge and pursued Bogaerts. They clearly have $300 million-plus to burn, perhaps $350 million-plus (no, they did not offer $400 million to Judge). They could spread that money around to build necessary depth. Or they could become a factor for a big-name free agent such as Correa or Kodai Senga. Brandon Nimmo would be less of a consideration, with the Padres likely to go with an outfield of Fernando Tatis Jr., Trent Grisham and Juan Soto.

This news struck me as misdirection in that while fans in the past may be anti-Correa, it seems to always happen that when another teams hated player becomes YOUR player, then all is well (assuming he helps your team win).

I think the news leaked because obviously LA fans want a big splash move made asap and if Correa landed elsewhere, those fans would wonder why LAD didnt get him themselves. Now, with the announcement, they make it sound like the fans, in part, were the reason LAD didnt go after him in the first place. So PR wise, they are trying to get off the hook (IMO).

As to where Correa actually lands, it wouldn't shock me to see him in Minny for a bit longer.

Can't wait for Carlos to fail to get 300 million and take another one year prove it deal after the other three SS get a combined 33 years 900 million.

I don't think that's going to happen. I think, when the dust settles, it will become clear that Carlos made the right move last year waiting things out and then taking the Twins deal, essentially betting on himself. The contracts that are getting thrown around this offseason are nuts, and he will probably get his very soon. I may be wrong, and all the big money may be doled out already and no is left willing to give a huge contract to Correa, but I bet someone will.
