Let's see how we could shake things up. Aaron Judge and Francisco Alvarez to the Astros for Leon and Maldonado. JV, whatever it takes to get Maldonado!
If Judge does go to the Giants, I would guess Rodon and Correa go to the Yankees, which probably makes them a better team overall. Still, L O L

So backup catcher makes some go from 2 years 33 to 4 years 80+? Just admit you think money doesn't matter and Crane will just spend anything with no budget in mind...
Lee's on base was ok and he was 23, not 25... He can work on the ks... there are few perfect players.
Yeah you are basically making the point for me. Diaz doesn’t care enough to be a catcher and if he feels that way at 23 not having even made the majors yet you aren’t going to see more care/effort out of him later, and Lee is a JAG.
I haven't heard anything but they should be. From what I have read he is limited to LF/DH due to a rocky glove and weak arm. There are questions if his power will translate but his batting eye and plate discipline will play anywhere. He looks to be a very good Astros option as long as he is looking at 3-4 years and $15-$17M AAV. Suzuki was 2 years younger and more defensive value when he got 5/$85 last year.
It’s not backup catcher dude- the regular season doesn’t matter for us. It’s a guy that can catch in the playoffs and be a plus bat getting rid of any potential weakness you might have when it’s winning time. how the hell is this so hard to understand?
Contreras will not be a backup catcher. He will be a 40% starter at catcher in 2023 and 60% starter after that. In addition he will DH/1B/LF specifically to get his bat into the lineup 145+ times per year since he has been among the 50 most productive bats in MLB for several years. And the Astros feel there is room for him to get even better with this workload management.
No, his OBP% wasn't okay.... wasn't it like 300-310? That is terrible in AAA. Also, striking out 1/3 of at bats is a big problem in AAA. I am not saying he should just give up, but when you are evaluating hitters, having a low OBP and huge strikeout rate at 23-24 years old, is a big red flag.
