So the turning a shooting guard into a point guard didn’t work….
    Now the kid is unplayable.
This is the same kid the head coach could keep out of the rotation last year even though the coach had no “plans” for him last year. The organization works with him over the off season and now he is broken. I can’t make this stuff up, this is why we can’t have nice things. In a developmental year, why Gordon / Mathews get time over him? He is a shooting guard with “some” skills and that is all and what he is. Stone needs to tell Silas “You broke him, you fix him”.

he broke himself. he decides that he's Kobe instead of trying to play a Lowry role.

The problem is that we have a very deep team... The quality level from top to bottom is obviously low because of the youth and inexperience, but the number of quality players with NBA futures far exceed the number we can have in the rotation.

KPJ, Jaygup, TyTy, Green, Mathews, EG, KJ, Tate, Bari, Tari, Sengun, Garuba = 12

That doesn't include Nix, Fernando, and Boban, which would increase the total to 15.

That means deserving players are not going to be in the rotation. This is not grounds for firing the coach. At the end of the season, I'm sure we'll see a couple moves to consolidate talent.

Well Josh needs to man up and start givin Silas some feels... I dont see Silas gettin all teary eyed over JC...

    lol... obviously i joke...

but Silas straight up said it...
“We have 13 guys who deserve playing time, and it’s not always an easy call as far as who gets to play and who doesn’t,” Silas said after practice on Friday. “I had a conversation with Josh after a few games. His minutes were up and down. I was trying to play 11 and told him it’s going to be hard to play him for the next few games. I want to see other combinations, other guys.”

    https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...ns-lack-of-playing-time-for-josh-christopher/

so.... just bc JC is a young 1st rd pick doesnt mean we should focus on trying to develop him or anything... smh...

I’ve never seen an organization prioritize undrafted players who were about to be out of the league over their own first round draft picks. It’s really unbelievable.

Maybe the Rockets were trying to play mind games like the Spurs?

Just wanted to share some anecdotal information - it’s nothing definitive but it might shed some light on why JC doesn’t get playing time.

I’ve gone to a half dozen Rockets game this season, which means I’ve watched on average 20 minutes of shootaround each game. Now that pregame warm up shooting is all over the place - multiple balls hit the rim simultaneously and there’s all kinds of distractions. But there are nights when I’ve gotten really excited watching a player hit everything in shootaround - honestly I have no idea if it translated to a good game. Most of the players have had at least a couple of shootarounds where they hit the 3 well and a couple where they miss way more than they make (even guys like Bruno, Boban and Nix).

But the one consistent thing I’ve seen in shootaround is that JC’s 3pt shot is gone - he doesn’t sink anything. In fact, after the first 3 games, my wife and I started paying close attention to JC. And for whatever reason, he’s consistently awful shooting the 3 during pregame.

So I suspect one of the reasons Silas sits JC is because he has no confidence in his 3pt shot, which of course is a requirement for all our guards. Now if JC was first rate at something despite having a broken shot, maybe he’d see more floor time. But there are just too many guys who play the same position who can hit their 3s at a better rate.

Again - just anecdotal - take this as one piece of the puzzle, not the definitive answer.
