Can't blame the guy for taking the deal.

It was great to have him on the team, and being part of some of the best baseball teams I've seen. Still remember the second half of the 2017 season after trading for him. He was amazing.

Wish him luck except against the Astros.

Better the Mets than the Dodgers or Yankees.

This doesn't hurt me as much as it hurt when Cole left.

Nothing like Springer and Correa leaving though.

I’m glad the Astros scientists were able to clone a younger JV before he departed.

    It's a vesting option.

    Just like Maldy's last year

If he hits 140IP in 2024 he is officially signed for 2025.

Now you've done it! (I just always wanted to say that)

Now, the equilibrium is upset. Don't ask me how. It just is. Oh boy!

Good for him, but I've learned that taking the biggest paycheck is not always the right career move. NY is a different stage with different fans than Houston. If he's wanting 300 wins, my bet is that taking less and staying here was his best chance. However, I'm glad Crane didn't spend that kind of money on an aging ace. Let's see what he does spend it on! :D

    I'm glad that we didn't give a $40 mil aav contract to a 40-year-old.

JV did great things here. Will always be remembered for that. Good luck for the rest of your career!

As for the Stros I'm confident about our starting rotation going forward.

Due to state income tax, the Stros could have paid him less while he netted more

Seems dude just wanted to leave and/or just wanted to satisfy his ego with a bigger gross number

Na, these guys don't care about how much they take home. They will never, ever, spend all of that money anyway

The salary is more of a statement, a status

They also play half their games out of the state. Their agents and staff still also take the same percentage no matter which state they play in.

Texas/Florida have had no state income tax for awhile now... if it truly was a difference maker, we'd have seen other states (teams) impose some sort of system to counter-act that.

Players have also learned how to circumvent some of the taxes by where they establish permanent residence, etc.
